Brought wifey home from hospital today! Glad she is home. And the mutts are happy too!!Gotta keep an eye on her tho.

So tonight I'll finish of the bottle of 10 y o Bulleit I opened back at deer camp. Silly gooses wanted vodka tonics! So I brought home the bourbon!

Argentina also has some great Malbec being made there. Probably even better than the Australian stuff--mostly.

PBR tastes like the can. :p
I've had Malbec from Argentina, and it was really good.
I wish I could remember the brand.
The hose would give Hamms flavor, but only if the hose was 25-30yrs old, and one of those cheap green ones.

Great news Renault! :eusa_clap

DH, drink enough of the cheap stuff and you'll be back in the can. :D

Tonight I am drinking my home-made "29 year old Springbank"..... let me explain..... The afore-mentioned whisky was a present from the woman I live with ("my wife" sounds like she's not an autonomous person-and with the Powder Room stuff going on at the moment, well.....) for a big birthday some years ago. It was a Milroy's own bottling and absolutely fantastic ....and amongst the many things I loved were the flavours of coconut and spices and chocolate. Since this scotch is no longer obtainable (and would be prohibitively expensive--except for big birthdays-- if it was) I decided to make my own. So I bought a litre of a cheap--but not too awful-- blend (Grants). I finely grated a big heaped tablespoon of coconut, put in a good pinch of powdered cinnamon and a smaller pinch of Valrhona cocoa. I like a bit of pear too, so I added a capful of Poire William. I bashed all these flavourings together with a few drops of boiling water, then added a decent couple of shots of the Grants to the paste and let it sit for 8 or so hours. Filtered it (using a paper coffee filter but a (clean !) cotton handkerchief would probably do it ) and stuck the resulting liquor in with about 50/60 mls of the Grants. Let it develop a few hours ...taste and if flavours are a bit too forward add more of the plain blend.

To be honest it's not quite like the Springbank .....but it's not too bad--and it certainly knocks the rough edges off the blend...
May try this sort of thing again, perhaps with a drop of rhum agricole and a hint of ginger....it's a fun experiment, but I would strongly advise keeping a bottle of something properly decent on standby....

We do not drink all that much, as that is how it is in our home. But there is always a fifth of the "nectar of the gods" (as they say Frank would call it) on the back of the dresser with a clean shot glass for the times you need to not see that invisible rabbit! LOL!

Always good to have something on hand in case of an emergency.

Tonight I had some Westbrook White Thai beer. I'm not that big on beer that tastes like anything but beer, but it did go really well with the curry we had for dinner.
