I had a refreshing Campari and soda--one of my favorite summer drinks. It reminds me of several things (a much-loved aunt, Venice at dusk, Negronis, etc.) but especially of Richard deVere's line in To the Manor Born in which he talks about the established London business men--the "city"--as a bunch of "smoothies from the Campari and soda belt waving their old school ties at each other in some sort of semaphore that I just can't understand........" Too funny. Great drink, though!!!!

I think I'll be o.k. That episode was in the late 1980's in Oxnard CA at the Casa Sierena Hotel (now decrepit). I currently own a bottle of Talisker, one of Laphroig, a jug of Famous Grouse, Jamison's Irish, and 5 variations of Rye. Last night I had a Little King's Cream Ale and a PBR (getting back to my roots I guess).
