What Did You Drink Last Night?

Last night was my 21st Birthday party, so I actually had quite a bit to drink.

Nuts and Berries Martini:
Stoli Blueberry, Frangelico, Chambord and Creme, shaken

Mochatini:
Van Gogh Double Espresso Vodka, Tia Maria, Godiva Dark and a Maraschino Cherry, shaken

I also had half of my escort's pint of Guiness (which was my favorite drink of the evening by far!) Plum Wine, a Cosmopolitan, an absolutely dreadful Mojito, and a shot that tasted like a blueberry muffin.

The night before, on my actual birthday (which was spent in with my family), I drove up to the local import market and picked out a 6 pack of various beers that sounded good to me. I got Honey Moon and Full Moon (both variants of Blue Moon), Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier, something called Strawberry Blonde (a "golden ale with a hint of natural strawberry flavor"), a 250th Anniversary Guiness, and an Apple Cider. I hope there all as good as the sounded, and my escort was quite impressed with my selection when I relayed it to him. I've had the Blackberry Witbier and the Honey Moon, and they were both quite delightful.

Ah I thought so! How was it? Darn shame that I missed it this year.

It was really good, I have never met such a friendly and open crowd, I talked to so many nice chaps and ladies!! I am probably going to The Chap Ball as well, since many of the Sheridan Club will be going too..

I finally went to Cicada for the first time and i had the signapore sling which was too weak for my taste. I went to the Bitlmore and had a Gin and Ginger and The Black Dahlia cocktail. Those were awesome.

The Lillet cocktail

Fill rocks glass with ice, add Lillet about two-thirds full, add juice of one-half lime, top with club soda; give a little stir.

Mrs. H became an immediate fan, and it was the big hit as an aperitif at Thanksgiving.

rusty nails. I live for these things.

I've taken to making them with finlaggans (a tasty, regular-drinker Islay) and just a splash of drambui, just for a change of pace.

Plymouth Martini

A (Well actually two) Plymouth martini with something under a quarter ounce of Lillet Blanc and a carefully trimmed lemon peel (olives seem to take away from the excellent Plymouth). Shaken, not stirred. Stainless steel shaker of course, so all those little ice shards.

Cockburns "exclusive" port.
Any more details on the Cockburns "exclusive"? Is it a vintage character port? Or a late-bottled vintage?
I haven't heard of that one before.

I am currently working on my last few bottles of Smith Woodhouse 1995 LBV.
Nice port, especially for the $25 I paid per bottle.

Sounds rather lovely :). I've been laying down a few 2000 vintages of late, to enjoy in the future.

From the label:
Cockburn's "Acclaimed Exclusive Edition" 20%ABV

It doesn't seem to have any specific vintage but is aged in oak barrels. I would describe it as an everyday Port, I tend to keep one bottle of everyday port on hand for when I fancy a bit, (I much prefer drinking the good stuff with company) this is usually Dow's Midnight but the Cockburn's was on offer at about half price (down to about £5).

Another rather nice non-vintage port is Croft's Indulgence which is really rather good.
