Some ice cold Blatz out of the freezer!

Wow, I didn't realize the Blatz was still around, they brought back Pabst (ehhh) and Schlitz (better than is was in the 1970's), but I hadn't seen Blatz for a while, couldn't get it in Kansas anyway. I had it years ago in College I think.

I didn't realize those brands were still around either. Tom finds brands that I thought were long dead. :p Next thing he will find Falstaff out there. :p

Pabst was never gone, I don't believe Blatz was, either. Schlitz's comeback has been pretty great. I have all three in my fridge right now.

They sell it all right down the street from me at the filling station. Falstaff is unfortunately gone. I hope it'll make a comeback.

All of those are regional brands though as I can't find Hamms out here for sure and Blatz? Forget about it.

Hi

I'm a bit of a Bud man, but I swapped and bought the Schlitz for a few weeks at $3.00 a six pack, then they raised it to $5.00 a sixer and that's MORE than Bud. I ain't payin' a bunch of money for any beer that's not Guinness. I'll have to see if they have Blatz back in Illinois when I go, but Springfield IL doesn't have the same distributors that Chicago does.

Tom, does Hamm's travel well? We had Jospeh Heilleman's premium beer, NOT OLD STYLE, but a cheaper version $4.39 a case for bottles. Several guys I knew had it neat the brewery and it was good, but it was sour by the time it made it to Illinois. The one time I tried Hamm's it had a similar problem. You're a LOT closer to the brewery than we are.

My husband's favourite tipple! I think Glenfiddich does smell rather good but could never drink the stuff in a million years. In my twenties, when I was ill with the flu my Mum used to make me a small hot Whiskey - I mean a dribble at the bottom of a cup - and tried to get me to drink it - I would hold my nose and try to drink it but couldn't stand the taste - I know, I know, it was completely wasted on me!

I completely understand. It's the only whiskey I've found that I can drink straight so far and the smell really is wonderful :)

Well, this is Wisconsin; home to many of the big breweries of this nation. It would be blasphemy to drink beer imported from another state.

What?! Is that like New York City out there:

I don't know how it travels. I'm never much farther from the brewery than I am now lol

I hope not! Haven't had one in over 30 years, but I still remember it having an aftertaste like sucking on a penny.

Some of the really cheap, stale beers I had in college had kind of a vinegar aftertaste, but for $4.39 a case... I spent the extra $3.00 a case for Pabst most of the time. Remember the Bitter beer face commercials from Keystone Light? Joseph Heilleman's Premium Beer made everybody make that face. Old Style wasn't substantially better, same brewery. The Hamms that made it to Illinois wasn't much better. Oddly enough, I drink India Pale Ales, which have extra hops which is VERY bitter, and I like them.

Falstaff was the "on-tap" beer at a college place (Illinois) that often had good bands. So I drank it when there, and nowhere else.

I certainly agree. Falstaff is definately the most gawdawfullest beer I've ever tasted..by far...EVER. When I hear that name I still shudder almost with the heebiejebbies. I would much rather drink a normally rank Miller Lite...or even a lukewarm Keystone in a can than any longneck Failstaff. On tap it is even worse! After 40 yrs...I still remember that horrid lingering barfloor mop taste.
