Guinness! Is there anything tastier on a sultry summer's night?

While I DO understand that "Guinness IS Beer." Sultry summer nights are made for pouring down a couple of red beers made with Zing Zang Bloody Mary mix and Budweiser. After mowing the yard, it is completely possible to just pour them in and they work.

Guinness IS the only beer. I'm sure arguments will follow. :D
Yes it's a heavy drink, and the taste is something you have to aquire. (Miss Golightly my wife said the same thing about it as you do, with only one swig...that wasn't enough to tell!)
I describe it as a somewhat burnt caramel.
I don't drink beer anymore, wine seems to be better for me (so I tell myself), but when I did drink it Guinness was the only one I chose.
I like trying to keep us on course, so I'll add that I'm still drinking Bellarouche Coates De Rhone by M. Chapoutier. It would be cheaper if I buy a case I guess. LOL

Ah I don't drink it anymore anyway Tomasso.
When I couldn't find Guinness I'd drink Killians Irish Red. Loved that beer....
Wine works for me these days, although I admit I can't taste everything they claim it has. :D

Interesting comments on Guiness. To me, there is a world of difference between Guiness from a bottle and Guiness poured properly from a tab. The bitter, heavy description fits my impression of Guiness from a bottle (which I never do anymore). A good Guiness on tap, however, almost tastes a bit light.

One drink I just do not get! I've tried it so many times and I just find it too bitter (and heavy).

:eeek:

And you're from Dublin!

I find Guinness smooth, not heavy, almost cream like. As for being bitter, I find it actually sweet! I find that most (not all) people who find Guinness (which is simply a brand of stout ale) bitter like beers such as Pilsener or other lagers, even India Pale ale, which to me is ironic, because many of these beers are highly hopped, and hops, of course, taste bitter!

But hey, to each their own, and goodness knows there are lots of beers, one or more for all!

While I'd love to drink all my Guinness in an Irish pub, I'll have to settle for second best which is imported kegs and cans....

Last night saw some Stratford Pilsener, a local beer from my home town, a pilsener style, obviously, and some Okanagan Pale ale, which we developed a taste for while living in Victoria, BC. VERY nice on a sultry summer's eve!

We tried a new rum (Kraken) with our Coke. It was very tasty but very potent (94 proof). The taste reminded me of a vanilla coke.

Vladimir Vodka.

That's what it said on the carton. Ten sealed plastic bags of approximately 100ml each, in a poorly printed carton box. Brewed in Dar-Es-Salaam, on the Tanzanian coast, brought through unknown means over the Kenyan border to Karamoja, that was the only spirit we found to toast a successful hunt with visiting Russians...

Under the starlit equatorial sky, with the hyenas barking somewhere in the plains and the drums beating in the village down there on the rutted trail pompously called a road, the stuff did the job.

Won't buy any in other circumstances, though...

I really like Kraken's logo.
Tonight I had a couple of Samuel Adam's Scotch Ale, which you can only get two bottles in the 12 pack variety packs. I wish I could this more, but after having two, that is enough.
