What did you dream about last night?

This is an interesting thread!

I also have very vivid dreams, but lately I've been blessed with murkier dreams. I used to have horrible nightmares, also. You know how I got rid of them? No kidding, I put on a CD of Mozart solo piano pieces while I slept and my dreams went from nightmares to good dreams. They stayed vivid, nonetheless, but it was a welcome relief.

A typical theme in my dreams is isolation and powerlessness. Like, 90% of my dreams have some aspect of that. Last night, I dreamt that I was alone in my home trying to read a book. I had my .45 loaded and in my lap. Something was at the door, and I knew that .45 wouldn't be enough.

Yes, very good idea for a thread. Dreams I think are a glimpse into the quantum/spiritual realm. Sometimes we can understand the symbolism as it applies to our lives and situations, other times it's completely surreal. There are numerous dreams mentioned in The Bible.
I have had literal prophetic dreams myself! One in which I met a blond woman at a cafe, someone in the medical field as she was wearing green scrubs.
Next evening, a friend who was supposed to have moved called me to go to a local place in the town he was in for one more night. His movers postponed his move one day.
Sure enough I meet this gorgeous blond in green scrubs! I didn't remember my dream again until it was all over though. I suppose that's a good thing because if I had realized that she was the one I had dreamed of the night before, I would have sat there just completely dumbfounded and unable to speak!
As to dream recall, I have read that large doses of B vitamins, especially thiamin, can cause one to have TOO vivid recall of dreams. I have experienced this myself, and lately I have been taking more B complex in order to enhance my dream recall. It really does work, at least for me anyway.

I dreamt that I was living as an undercover census taker in a bad neighborhood. At some point, someone tipped me off that the locals had figured me out and that I should leave. Although I was defiant at first, I started trying to pack all my belongings. Meanwhile, I was receiving threatening stares, random visitors and slow drive-bys.

I moved a number of items back to a house I owned on the other side of town, but when I returned to my undercover apartment, I was quickly involved in a confrontation with a number of gun wielding hoodlums. I was able to get off two 12 gauge arounds into two assailants, and resorted to plugging 3 more with my .45.

By now, I was running on adrenaline and I was able to get a few more of my things and leave. The whole time, my heart was racing and I was actually disappointed that I'd taken another human life. Well, some of these guys had followed me and I was forced to shoot two others as I got out of the car. It was a gorey, bloody mess and I was constantly using my shirt to wipe my gun and hands off.

When I finally got home, I put my stuff away and reloaded my gun, but just as I turned to check my front door, a thin guy wearing a tank top and slicked back hair plunged a crude boning knife right into my liver through my stomach.

Then I woke up.

Usually I always have nightmares -- really bad ones, which are connected to bad experiences in my past.
Recently I started some medication to tone down the nightmares and other negative things, and there where I usually remembered áll of my dreams/nightmares, I just simply can't anymore. Those meds really knock you down.

I dream a lot about things that could potentially be plays or books...I mean, plots. I have based many of my stories on bits of dreams that really stood out to me. Kinda weird...

This morning, right before I woke up, I was dreaming about sewing a black & white checked circle skirt and matching 3/4 sleeve bolero...and right after I woke up I immediately went to the closet and pulled out a bit of fabric, which just happened to be the same print but it's something I'd never thought to make clothing of...thus my new sewing project! :D I can honestly say that's never happened to me before.

ETA: I have a lot of deja-vu...I can remember dreaming about doing something, and then perhaps a few days later I actually do it, and it seems oddly familiar...lol

I never really remember all of them.
With as many film noirs as I've been watching, I'm surprised I don't dream myself in one.
Sometimes I do dream I'm at work, as if I need to be there when I'm in bed!
Must not be drinking enough wine, or too much.

Last one I recall, I was posing as police captain to attend a funeral. I was trying to get my police captain's uniform correct, and had some odd little problem with the cuffs or something. Then I woke up. This one defies interpretation. Was I a gangster trying to sneak into a police funeral? Or an undercover cop trying to get information at a gangster funeral?
I'm stumped. [huh]

A few times I dreamed that I was in combat. One that sticks out in my mind is where I was a British soldier in France in 1940. I remember commandeering a bicycle and riding down a road clogged with refugees and stragglers only to be strafed by a German fighter. While I didn't get hit in this one, I remember getting hit in another combat dream. But strangely enough, I didn't feel a thing.

For the last few nights I've had a dream where I'm on vacation or just walking down the street and all of a sudden I hear someone whisper "psssst" and I turn around and there's a male or female Lounger in a overcoat and homburg holding a cane with Fedora Lounge written on it and they ask me to follow them to the meeting. I always wake up before I make a decision whether or not to follow. Weird stuff.....

Not last night but vivid - I dreamed that I had to kill two hideous monsters. One was small and wirey and one a hugh blob like thing. In this dream I knew I had to focus on what I was trying to accomplish. So, I kept repeating "kill monsters, kill monsters...." At some point, my wife woke me up. She says, "you were talking in your sleep." I asked her what I was saying and she says, "Well, it kind of sounded like "kill monsters!" Anyway, I told her about my dream. Now, the back story is I had two problem employees at the time, but they were friends of my boss so I couldn't get rid of them. One was a large, rather obease gentleman and the other a short, hyper little guy. For the purposes of this discussion, we'll call them Mutt and Jeff. So, when I was relating my dream to my wife, I said Well, there was a big, fat one," and she says, "That's Mutt!" and then I said and a little tiny one." "That's Jeff!" she shouts. Even to this day (it was 15+ years ago) we get a chuckle out of it.

Best,

I had a dream last night that it was the 60s and I was being sent off to Vietnam. My parents were there and it was very sad. I was also driving a baby blue 1960 Ford Falcon station wagon.

Tom you and wagons. :D
I dream often (last night too) of a former neighbors house, where I spent a lot of time.
The neighborhood is worse now, and those people finally moved.
Maybe it's a desire to go back to a simpler time in my life.
I do have to admit that since being on here, and watching all those dern Film Noirs we have on Netflix, I've dreamed a lot about the 40's.

You know how much I love my wagons haha.

Your dream reminds me, my dad always talks about how he dreams of the house on 60th St. where he grew up, in the 60's. Same story, the neighborhood went downhill and all the families that had been there since the 50's moved out.
