I am glad you volunteered to do all my sweeping and raking for me. Be here around 8am Monday. I have plenty of work for you. :p

I'm there. You can pay me in cigars. If you have more than a city lot, you will pay me in cigars and whiskey.

I'll need directions.

Don't push your luck, pal.

I suppose I could do without pushing my luck. :D There could be a lot of raking involved:

What can I do without?

I was thinking of this question in regard to all the modern conveniences we enjoy. There are quite a lot of things I could do without if I had to. But if I name them will I be put to the test? Let's hope not. I really appreciate the conveniences. Hot running water, dishwashers, clothes washers and dryers (line drying is not allowed in my neighborhood!).

I COULD live without:

People who don't return phone calls

Hot weather

Smog - I lived with it for 18 years but escaped a over a year ago

Changing diapers

Calories

Cigarette smoke/cigar smoke too!

Cigarettes thrown out of the car window or left in an ashtray still lit

Recipes that call for Cream of Mushroom soup

Traffic (like Los Angeles)

In that same vein, I don't like people who do not return emails or any sort of correspondence when I know that they have recieved it.

Guilty as charged in many cases. The problem is that I can understand the plight of some. When you get over 100 messages a day it is a tough row to hoe. Each message---even spam takes a minute to sort through and either delete, respond, forward or save for future dealing with(the last means I never answer it:p ).

Regards,

J

Strawberries that taste like cardboard. Peaches that taste like wet papier mache.

Actually, on rare occasions I can find an edible fresh peach. I gave up on strawberries years ago.

Movie related: I could do without Dolby/THX sound. Clear sound is fine, but the soundtracks now are deafening. Every sound-effect and all of the music tracks seem engineered to be as decibel shattering as possible. Even if the movie you are watching is relatively quiet, most likely the sounds of the film being shown next door will spill over. Nothing like watching a quiet human drama and listening to gunfire and explosions set to rap music....

Over usage of "shaky-cam" or the Blair Witch Syndrome. Pair that with MTV spawned fast editing and you need a little Dramamine to go with your popcorn!

Casting actors too young to be taken seriously in their parts. Not that you couldn't be head of surgery or a chief administrator at 22...
