Yesterday had a cup of the Pike place roast at Starbucks.
I also purchased a bag of Sumatran coffee beans, some of which I ground fresh and brewed at home this morning.

Pike's is my usual Starbucks brew. Today it is Folger's dark roast-good joe but certainly not Peruvian or Costa Rican caliber.

Thank you for not saying Pike's Place! That is my biggest pet peeve of tourists visiting here. It is the name of a street (Pike), not belonging to Pike (Pike's). :D

And believe it or not, not everyone here likes Starbucks. We have so many other local coffee brands that are much better. But they'll do in a pinch. ;)

Discovered Stash Meyer Lemon tea yesterday. It's described to be a combo of lemon and Mandarin orange flavors. So, lemony, but not too puckery. Really tasty with some organic turbinado sugar in it.

Had the Pike roast again this morning at the Starbucks by my work.

Babydoll I have no doubt there are many coffee shops as good or even better out there. Unfortunately they're not down here. I can still remember when even they were not around. It was like a wondrous ray of hope in the mornings when Starbucks invaded the market in these parts.

We are certainly spoiled up here by the variety. A friend moved to Oregon & would mail order his favorite coffee beans from his old local coffee shop.

I can still remember when people down here would mail order Starbucks coffee. The first time I tried it was at a friends house who did.

I know there are many people who hold little love for the Starbucks, but I can't say anything bad about them. When they first came into the market here in about 2001, my wife worked there for awhile. We were both very surprised by the benefits they offered the employees. They have (or at least had) a stock buying plan for employees which we took full advantage of at the time
Years later that stock was worth enough that we were able to sell it and pay a good part of the expenses of adopting our daughter. (Not cheap)

This morning I'm having Starbucks Sumatran coffee, ground and brewed at home.

BTW…where do you guys think is the best place online to buy coffee? By which I mean, what site has the best bang for your buck? I like coffee beans from Central America and Africa.

Cup of Harney's Tower of London tea with organic turbinado sugar.

It was probably the most perfect cup of tea I've had in a very long time. Perfect sweetness, perfect brew strength, perfect temperature. I was sad to take the last sip of it.

Salt Spring Island coffee, bought recently in Victoria, BC. A little taste from "home", though we lived on Vancouver Island for only three-plus years. An awesome medium-dark roast.

I'm not brand-loyal at all, though I really like Gevalia house blend. It's dark enough to be used in my espresso maker. I generally like any brand of Colombian brewed as a shot. So I'm country-loyal? On my lunch I did pick up a bottle of Starbucks unsweetened iced coffee and added heavy cream. That was good. I had neglected to take my cold-brewed with me to work, even though I knew I'd want it this afternoon.

Fairtrade/Bio-Instantcoffee (100% Tansania-Coffee) which tasts a little fruity or vanilla/banana like, but very nice and a little exotic. Good stuff!
