Sold a pair of RB Aviators this week & immediately invested in a pair of RB Balorama's (having to get a pair imported as couldn't source any in the UK). I blame a certain person on this thread for making me aware of the model :)

Yet another Bausch & Lomb Ray Ban Balorama variant today. Gold and Black 2 tone.
These are not manipulated , and don't get worn on the Harley , they are "car jobs"
Older 70's 7 barrel hinges. Robust and optically very good ( zero distortion) G15 green lenses.
Photo taken in a vineyard in the Swan valley on Australian mother's day run this morning.
Hence the gumtrees and grape vines in the backdrop

I own at least 10 pairs of Ray-Ban of different models, all pre-1999 made in USA with Bausch & Lomb lenses (those made by luxottica to me aren't comparable to the old ones) most from 70s-80s. First thing I did was to remove the rayban logo on the lenses when it was present, I really don't like it. Then I have a pair of 80s Pilot by American Optical that I bought NOS, and a pair of Tart Optical

Ordered Balorama's in Tortoise Shell, haven't a clue whether they will fit or not, Wayfarers (various models) and Oakley Flaks are my usual fare...

I’ve been falling in love with Jacques marie mage sunglasses. They’re well made, feel thick and solid and come with nice lenses. I have a pair of the toas and the molino with a pair of the Montana on the way. JMM Taos are shown in the pic. Pics taken by my wife messing around in her studio. The jacket is a Fine creek type 3.

Vintage Ray-Ban Balorama made in the US by Bausch & Lomb late 80's early 90's
colour "Cerise" (OK Pinky/purple I get that !) 5 barrel hinges at this age. Not manipulated.
On a stunning early winter/late Autumn day. Like I have said before , "sunnies" are a constant need here in Perth WA

B&L Ray-Ban Balorama again today. Black 5 barrel hinges and not "manipulated". Late 80's made.
Aero Highwayman Blue label for the "post once in a decade storm" beachside walk.
Within 5 minutes of this photo another brief rainsquall came thru from the sou'/sou west.
This is not my "best fitting" jacket , apparently an Aero Highwayman foible.
Smells divine even now , for sure my "best smelling" jacket.
Stands out in the jacket storeroom for that reason AND it's Brown amongst the row of blacks.

Luxottica's polarized take (remake) on an older classic style. Very well made.

I have the B&L "originals" in Black like yours and I have them in Brown/Tortoisehell.
(name/B&L code escapes me right now)

Both new (NOS) and boxed hence not in the daily wearing roster.

I think I have a very good order pre-worn pair as well , I may have to rake them out of storage !

There ya go ! My pre-worn but good order mid to late 70's (maybe earlier) B&L pair.

No model number on the the arms , but part of the "Olympian" range I am sure.

On one arm is embossed into the plastic ear-rest. (The case gives clue to the age.)

My favorite pair for the motorcycle are the Carhartt brand safety glasses that I found at Runnings department store. I have them with tinted lenses for day, and clear lenses for night. The come with removable stems, and elastic straps to replace the stems. I use the straps as they keep the glasses snug against my face. Worn this way, they are really like goggles. They keep the wind, elements, and bugs out of my eyes. I bought 3 pairs of each (tinted and clear). I've been wearing the same 2 pairs for all of last season and the beginning of this riding season, and they've held up really well. No scratches on the lenses that I've noted.

Persol are another Luxxotica sunglass brand. Those in your photo I am unfamiliar with.
They "look like" Ray Ban Oympian DLX L0255 , the kind worn by Peter Fonda in easyrider.
Balorama are a solid plastic framed sunglass. The only metal is in the hinges and arms.
