What are your favorite Aero designs?

I think the upper Aero Hercules and lower SB/AL Spiegel illustrates the point @Sloan1874 was trying to make. One can definitely see the similarity between the two patterns.

Yes, I have my eye on all of those! The Grizzly is a style I really didn't like when I first saw it, but it has grown on me significantly since then. I may well weaken in future...

Thought I'd dig this one up, partly because I was looking to see if I could find pictures of the Hudson in Black or the Royale in Suede and this thread came up via google.

I've already got my favourite- the 1930s Half Belt. However I'd also really like to get one of each of the above, the Hudson more so.

Thunderbay for me, although I have a CHIPS coming up so when that arrives it'll probably be my favourite.

The Bootlegger's good as well, it's a minimalist cross zip, mine's cordovan horsehide, that might be my favourite.

For some reason I could never get on with the Mandarin style collar on a classic cafe racer design. I had one (not an Aero) years ago, and sold it for that reason. Course, I love to wear a leather jacket with collar and tie - and waistcoat, if I can - a la Howard Hughes; I think a collared jacket is just better suited to going with a tie.

Even still, every so often I see a classic cafe racer, more cut like the Aero Board Racer, and I do wonder... Possibly one of those styles I'd buy on the right used deal, but won't gravitate towards 'new'.

I don't wear leather jackets with a shirt and tie unless it's a long one over a suit (black Stockman) and it's raining six-nil. For me, a cafe racer is best worn with a plain long sleeve t-shirt (nothing collared). I also think that mine worked best when I had lost weight and had a thinner neck and face. More 'roomy' cuts definitely work better than a cafe racer when I am more 'generous' of face.

My current is the Barnstormer. No idea when I'd ever wear it, but I honestly think about it during both my waking and sleeping hours. Now that they make it with the detachable belt, even better.

I was a lot thinner myself when I had a cafe racer! I agree, they're best worn without a collared garment underneath, but then that's likely accurate to their DNA as having started out in imitation of the top half a one-piece leather racing suit.

My cordovan FQHH Bootlegger would probably have to be my perfect one and only. Looks great with collar and tie like any other halfbelt, while the lancer front gives it something of a nod to a bike jacket, and it works great with casuals. I also find the cordovan / oxblood colour works wonderful with both blacks and earthtones, transcending the tone-limitations of black or brown hides.

I have just sold my fqhh highwayman as I just couldn’t get on with the hide...too easily marked and I don’t go with the speeded up patina line.that’s me now sold all my jackets made with it,love the highwayman & the 30s halfbelt but in Vicenza .
I don’t want my jackets looking 10years old in 6 months.
