What are your 2019 leather jacket buying plans or aspirations?

I picked up my first leather jacket last month, an Aero 30s HB in Brown CXL FQHH, and already pining for a lighter weight warm weather jacket. Black would make logical sense to provide more variety, but it's not really calling to me. Perhaps darkened seal or blackened brown?

That being said, I can't seem to get this two-tone Hooch Hauler that Carrie posted a while back out of my head:

My aspirations are for something custom.
My wallet would like something used.
My plan is to keep the wife happy. (When showing her the above it garnered a "hell no.")

As such, I will probably spend 2019 living vicariously through the rest of you on TFL.

Long-term plan don’t sit well with my wardrobe. However, I’d like to sell a couple of my leather jackets and get in another two.

I’d like to get an half belt and I’m torn between the RC Hercules and the Eastman Californian. Probably the Californian works better with my overall style although the Hercules is really cool. I might also venture into the shearling territory later in the year almost surely with an Eastman D1.

At the moment, like others I’m spending lots on boots (wanted a second pair of engineers and ended up with three more pairs!) so no jackets in the next couple pf months for me.

I am kicking off 2019 with a White's Boots purchase since no jacket purchases are planned.

More than likely a 6" Bounty Hunter in dress brown, then onto a custom Wesco 7400 or 30's style engineer boot.

The boot size Baker Shoe think I should be in seems way off to what I have been reading about how they are sized, so I have a feeling the boots will have to be remade so I am ordering now in time for spring. I am being proactive and counting on a remake. Lol.

Colin, having owned several pairs of Whites, and a pair or two of Nick's as well, it's probably worth it to go through them direclty and pay a little extra to do the full Fit Process. Then your info is kept on file with them. I've found that with different styles of thier boots that the last (and consequentilly the fit) varies widely. The Semi-dress on my feet now, which are 12D are way looser of fit than a clearanced-pair of custom Semi-dress 11D's I picked up last month. I plan to do a thread on these all very soon, but house chores have been keeping my evenings busy, after the gym.

Seems like overall, a lot of us are moving more into boots and such, rather than just more jackets. This is true with me as well. I did just pick up a Unbranded Raw Denim jacket which will be a first for me:
(see here: https://www.fontenellesupplyco.com/collections/outerwear/products/unbranded-ub901)
I know the owners of this store in Des Moines. I need to do a thread on them...

As for other jackets, wow, I sold off a lot last fall. Bought a few, traded a few. Feeling like I want to wait it out now and do some actual reviews of what I have. Update old reviews. Enjoy the ones I have. But I would really like to order a custom Aero Zip-Sleeve HWM with nickle hardware, in black Steerhide, with a red cotton drill lining. Just to have something different, but not over the top. There's no sense even mentioning "I'm done" as I know, in my knower, that is just not true! :)

I'm out, lads. I got to cough up $3500 in private school fees for my young 'uns and right now I can't work out how I'm gonna find the money. We're tapped out after $850 worth of unexpected car repairs the week after Christmas for starters. I'll be another one enjoying your purchases from the sidelines but when the weather cools down you can bet I'll be back in my Sunburst, Halfbelt and R-Jays cross zip as much as possible.

I hear you @Benny Holiday plus the new import taxes on EVERY item shipped to Oz have really made me stop and think. What happens if we return an item for incorrect size etc? Do we get refunds on the initial import tax? or do we get stung twice on the replacement item?

Just a logical progression. I went from Schott, LW, Aero, Thedi, Langlitz jackets to Road Champ and Role Club engineers.
That's all a man really needs......

Mate I'll be a cold day in hell when the Australian Govt misses out on rorting us out of the very last cent we own. Look at the double taxing of petrol! If they can bite us twice, they will.

I'm somewhere in the queue for a Good Wear, and given I ordered five years (or more) ago, I really should chase it up.

I just got my langlitz columbia as I posted on. love it. really want a cascade to match, but in black goat at some point

I have a JL getting the back lower panel reconfigured now. was a little cropped. having him change to more curved like schotts 613

I have another JL custom on order working out the details. It is a mash of their m200 and m500 in their dark brown cow i love.

i should be good with that. sold a few jackets I never really wore.

i did the custom whites and wesco boot thing for a while. back to good old red wing heritage boots.

always something to obsess about.

Craigslist purchase off original owner. He reported ordering extra long in body length as that was his idea of good fit I'm 6'1" and it's very long on me.
But your jacket has handwarmers it cant get shaved much on the hem before the handwarmer look out of proportion, better add a double zipper, or raise the zipper box only and let it have some splay below the zip.

Only adding this because it certainly can happen so watch your pennies! this is going to be (maybe) THE year for my leather jacket hobby. I am down to "only" 8 leather jackets as always WW2 flight jackets, (repro and original) it has been perfect jacket wearing Fall and Winter weather for me and I have worn leather about...................5 times in 4 months. I can't seem to part with the leather jackets yet but I think if I have another year like this with leather, I am just going to sell them it all. This leather hobby is a spectator sport for me now as every time I go for the the leather in my closet, cloth or fleece always seems to win out. Good news, probably no money spent on leather any more. Love leather, just on others and in old photos!!!!!!

Must admit I'm all about boots really for the next few months, just put a deposit down with Brian the boot maker for another pair of engineers, can't wait. Plus those John Lofgren chuckers are looking rather nice!
This will be the first time I've ventured into colour 8 so I have a strange suspicion a matching jacket may follow ;)

I bought the JL Chukkas in black and love them - so much that I'm considering the burgundy version in place of the Road Champs.
