What are you snacking on?

Sometimes the next snack item super girl friend bakes is a very thought-out, we've-looked-through-cook-books, discussed-it event. Then, sometimes kooky happenstance takes hold. Yesterday morning, looking for something in our cupboard, SGF came across some pearl sugar and thought - "hmm, what could I make with that." That led to her envisioning the top of a panettone and - half a day or so later - this:

Due to the unwelcome appearance of Mr Bellytoobig in my life, I'm now spending all my time with Mr Diet. Snacks can still happen if heavily controlled, though mostly fruit. I miss nuts, crisps and sweeties.... :(

Peeps Oreos - "Special Edition"

First, I have no pride. Hence, second, I had few reservations about buying these as I love Oreos and I love Peeps.

My only real complaint is the obnoxious way the company ups the price for these "special editions" by making the packages ridiculously small. If they want to charge more - fine, that's their right - but do it in an upfront, transparent way. Doing it by shrinking the package size is sleazy and turns me against the company. (Rant over.)

As to taste, I didn't get much, really any, of a Peeps filling taste - to me they tasted more like the basic cream filling only, maybe, slightly sweeter. So I was disappointed as I wanted a Peeps-tasting filling, but still a good sandwich cookie (if overpriced for reasons noted above).
