Alaska Quarterly is one of the best lit journals in the country.

...but I just pay for bookstore coffee and read the journals for free. :D

I feel humbled that I did not know that.

Of course, it's not my fault...

I never learned to read. :eusa_doh:

...Just an Illini opinion; wish some local press was as good. :(

Trouble is, AQR flies off the shelf, and, if I'm not quick, I gotta
scrounge around for it. lol

Just got done with D-Day with the Screaming Eagles by George E. Koskimaki. As I have been picked as the the unit historian in one of the reenacting groups that I belong to and I get to do a talk about it at the next unit gathering. The book is really interesting it is mostly the vets telling what happen to them on that day.

I just hit the bargain bin.

A Rain of Lead: The Seige and Surrender of the British at Potchefstroom

Written with Lead: America's Most Famous and Notorious Gunfights from the Rev. War to Today (also apparently discusses violence and firearms vis a vis the US and the rest of the world, looks like a decent companion to Kopels' "The Samurai, the Mountie and the Cowboy")

Finally,

For Want of a Nail: If Burgoyne had Won at Saratoga, alternative/historical fiction

well none yet, the reenactment unit is planning on a unit jump so we can where the wings with pride.

That's going the extra mile... vertically. :D

Good on ya and your unit. That is a good way to show respect for the uniform.

Yeah the unit CO is stickler for that "If you did not do it then you can't wear it!" now if you did it you can, we do have an 101st vet ('Nam or just after) in the unit and the CO and two other have done the a jump out of a C-47 through the ADT (Airborne Display Team) so at this time 4 guys can wear the wings but even if the unit is unable to do this I'm going to find the time this year to make a jump.
