The first few tracks on random iTunes:

Geen Hell - Misfits
We're Just Friends - Wilco
Waiting for a Train - Johnny Cash
Airbag - Radiohead
Trainspotting - Primal Scream
Checkout blues - Eels
Come On, Let's Go - Richie Valens

I'd say that's fairly representative.

I'm listening to Billy Idol, Gene Vincent, and Billy Joel now. For the past week, I've been in an pop rock, 80s/50s rockabilly mood.

I've been listening to a lot of a collection of Bix Beiderbecke's work with the smaller groups he did with Jean Goldkette's sidemen. The solo he takes on "I'm Coming Virginia" makes me shudder. Tram's work on the c-melody is quite nice as well.

Also been listening to a lot of "Moanin'" by the Jazz Messengers and, as for live albums, the Duke at Newport in '56, Benny Goodman at Carnegie in '38, and the JATP drum battle between Kruppa and Rich in '52.

And, for a change of pace, Dylan's "Blonde on Blonde," Ennio Morricone's score for "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly," and the good ol' fashioned rock 'n' roll raunch of T. Rex's "Electric Warrior."
