Here's some sides recorded for the Japanese market by "Natto Shirukuretto," aka Nat Shilkret and the Victor Orchestra of America. :p

Love those records by "Natto Shirukuretto". It amuses me to imagine musicians such as "Vaclav Albrecht" sawing away at other ethnic styles.

It's Sunday Morning, so of course some pretty duets by those lovely Cleveland girls, Josephine Lausche and Mary Udovich:

As Nat Shilkret was Victor's overall musical director from 1926 to 1932 he also made numerous recordings for Victor's ethnic and foreign markets. The recording of Manshu Koshinkyoku has the distinctive Nat Shilkret sound while on the other two he got the Japanese stylings down pat.

Actually he got his start with Victor in their ethnic department in 1915, just about the time that Victor began to offer serious competition to Columbia's brown (and later green) label ethnic series which was well developed under the supervision of Mr. Thallmeyer by that time. Victor never really caught up to Columbia (and OkeH/Odeon) whose great activity in these markets, particularly in European music, put the Victor to shame, although Victor's Greek, Bessarabian and Asiatic offerings had commanding shares of their admittedly small markets.

How about some good old Val taro music?

"Scudlein" Brugnioli and Pete Delgrosso! I remember their music from all of the affairs up and down 31st avenue
in Astoria!

Appropriately...April in Paris, by the stylistically incomparable pairing of Ella and Louis.

And here's another "Arches" song...

Flanagan & Allen -- Round The Back Of The Arches

Bud Flanagan -- Who Do You Think You Are Kidding, Mr Hitler? (1968)
Theme song of the TV series Dad's Army. Sadly, this was Bud Flanagan's very last recording which was made shortly before his death.

Who do you think you are kidding, Mr Hitler?
If you think we're on the run
We are the boys who will stop your little game
We are the boys who will make you think again
Cause who do you think you are kidding, Mr Hitler?
If you think old England's done

Mr Brown goes off to town on the 8:21
But he comes home each evening
And he's ready with his gun
So watch out, Mr Hitler
You have met your match in us
If you think you can crush us
We're afraid you've missed the bus

Cause who do you think you are kidding, Mr Hitler?
If you think we're on the run
We are the boys who will stop your little game
We are the boys who will make you think again
Cause who do you think you are kidding, Mr Hitler?
If you think old England's done
