What we need is a jukebox that can play CDs. It would look just as awesome, the sound would be better, and you can fit in more music. I wish such a thing existed.

I am getting reacquainted with one of my favourite singers: Liza Minnelli, singing her famous song "Cabaret":

...with the inimitable Joel Grey: "Money Makes the World Go Around":

And of course, Joel Grey's most famous song: "Willkommen":

Nothing sounds better than an American imitating a German accent, singing in three languages.

Joel Grey is 80 years old this year. Incredible actor!

Now here's some Summer music!

YES-IN-DEED... Nick Curran puts out Great Music.

That's easy... There're tons of those newly-made on the market. From the little tabletop foot-tall Chinese cheapies for about a hundred on the 'Bay, to the full-sized exact replicas of the original Wurlitzers with working bubble tubes and color changers, which sell for almost as much as the 78 rpm originals, around the $6 - 7,000 mark, made by both Wurlitzer and Rock-Ola...

Coleman Hawkins - Angel Face

Haaa, that's been my favorite of all of Hawk's 1940s recordings since I first heard it on a compilation CD in high school.

Another close second, recorded at the Same December 11th, 1947 session (the 1956 date on this youtube video is wrong), "How Strange"-- although it's a bit darker... Amazing line-up, with Fats Navarro on trumpet...

A Great Hawk album from the '50s is The Hawk Flies High (1957): Can't believe it's "no longer available" in MP3 format on Amazon... still easy to find on CD and vinyl LP reissues; I'd call it a must-have for any major 1950s jazz fan. Since we seem to be in a "ballads" mood, here's one from the album...
