Here is "Anything Goes" for the 21st Century. I wrote this entirely by myself in 24 hours. The verses exactly follow the layout of the original song. Bridging verses are enboldened for ease of reading.

Each verse is a commentary on a particular aspect of modern society, in a similar vein to the original 1930s song. See if you can guess what each verse is referring to. Some are more obvious than others.

"Anything Goes" (A parody by Shangas).

Times have changed,
And too often we’ve lost the plot,
And become far too eas’ly shocked,
And our common sense cracks like rocks.

Now today, any shock that we’re forced to stand,
Instead of standing fast like the rocks,
We would crumble into dust and sand,

In olden days when folks were tolerant,
Actions from then are seen as abhorrent,
And now God knows, Anything Goes

Fine authors too who once wrote flowery,
Are now seen as overpowering,
And you know, Anything Goes,

If those shows you like,
Where girls fight and like,
Scratch and swear and bite,
And the men are like,
Full of beer and spite,
And not at home at night,
Well then it only goes to show,

That though we think that life is perfect,
Some wish that we had a reset,
Hid down below, Anything Goes.

These days parents,
Can be far too sensitive,
To be re-pre-sentative,
And let kids grow,

Music too is indiscernible,
Breathing and phrasing?
That’s unheard of,
Because you know,
Anything Goes!

Men and girls today,
Are they straight or gay?
Or is it just for pay?
Will they leave or stay?
Will they stay the course?
Or file for a divorce?
The tab-a-loids will know!

Where once we would have sent a letter,
We now text, it's fast but is it much better?
Well, I don’t know, Anything Goes.

Our lives online are there for all to read,
Facebook, and Twitter, Youtube, It’s plain to see,
Anything Goes.

Subway and the Golden Arches are
Feeding us all from greasy old cartons,
And waistlines grow,
Anything Goes.

All those courts today,
Are overrun by they,
Whose brains will always say,
Your common sense may stay,
You can relax today,
Because you will be paid,
When your litigation’s through,

The world today is quite fantastical,
Full of the sane, the mad, the irascible,
