Dear God, thank you for helping me get and play the melodeon and harmonica. I am extremely grateful for these gifts! Amen.

In today's video, I play the ever so popular polka tune Just Because on my Accordiola Mundinger Diaton III Grand Luxe club accordion. :D

Enjoy! :D

Saw them live back in the eighties with the Cadillac Tramps at a little dive bar in Sacramento. Country Dick Montana hung out with the crowd and handed out Beat Farmer Almanacs. At one point in the show, he had the crowd all sit down cross legged with him while the band played on. A really entertaining show. Great energy and ringmanship.

Carlos Gardel -- Cuando Tu No Estas
(When You're Not There)

Alone on the road of my destiny
Without your comforting gaze
I'm like a bird on its way
Lost his voice to sing

When you're not there
The flowers have no fragrance
The thrush, the fountains and stars
Have no appeal to me

When you're not there
All my hopes have died
If you go life has no thrills
Hear my lament
That I confide to the winds
All is sorrow
When you're not there

The radiant break of dawn
Clear morning, beautiful roses
The stars shine, the fountain sings
Life smiles when you are there

The Beat Farmers were sort of the Official Party Band of the 80s, at least for me and everyone who wasn't wearing a black trench coat and listening to The Smiths.

I-265 / I-65 Interchange, Louisville, KY

Thanks for the ride, hey Mister,
It's nice I look just like your sister.
You'd like to show me a good time, I believe you.
Thanks for the offer, here's where I leave you.

Route 65 to Nashville
I will pick it up just south of Louisville
It's on the right, the sign is green and white
I know it's waiting round that next hill
Route 65 to Nashville

I ran away to nowhere
Bright lights, Saturday nights, I'd go there
I've learned the hard way you can't be happy hiding
My best to Broadway from here on in I'm riding

Route 65 to Nashville
I will pick it up just south of Louisville
It's on the right, the sign is green and white
I know it's waiting round that next hill
Route 65 to Nashville

He was country folk like I am
I went to town and I left my man
And now I miss him, I've got to be believing
We still can make it so here's where I'm leaving

Route 65 to Nashville
I will pick it up just south of Louisville
It's on the right, the sign is green and white
I know it's waiting round that next hill
Route 65 to Nashville

I've started listening to the Aubrey/Maturin (Napoleonic-era British maritime) series again by Patrick O'Brien. Listening to "Master and Commander" in the car and "Nutmeg of Consolation" in the house.
