Moon, the missus and I butt heads over contemporary country but she turned me on to Stapleton and now I'm a fan.
I know how you feel. Most new country seems to have been put through the same "production" machine.
Thanks to Moon's post I have purchased this Chris Stapleton album (and shed a tear or two over "Daddy Doesn't Pray Anymore") and have put more Stapleton and "SteelDrivers" albums on my Christmas list.
Anyone else have any modern country to recommend?
On a side note ... while searching on iTunes I ran across "Divided and United: Songs of the Civil War" (which is now on its way to be a gift for my father who used to do CW reenacting) and that led to finding and purchasing Tennessee Ernie Ford's 1961 "Songs of the Civil War" albums. We wore those vinyl recordings out as kids.
