Bobby Bare -- Waitress At The Main Street Cafe

I know they all know that I love her
They don't say a word I can tell
The people who live here on Main Street
Know and respect me too well
Each morning she brings me my coffee
Thank you, Good Looking, I say
Everyone knows I'm in love with
The waitress at Main Street Cafe

I watch as she walks by my table
I'm longing to hold her so tight
I know once again I will meet her
When she gets through working tonight
Someday when my ship comes to anchor
I'll come and I'll take her away
My schemes and my dreams are including
The waitress at Main Street Cafe

I know that some stranger would wonder
Why we steal a quick little kiss
I eat and I drink all my orange juice
Yet I never leave her a tip
She says she will take off that apron
When we can afford it someday
Yes, the girl that I married is working
She's the waitress at Main Street Cafe

Bobby Bare -- Redneck-Hippie Romance

They say a redneck and a hippie
Should never get married
But we just laughed and done it anyway
For a while life was fine
Cause your life's so different from mine
But now it seems we both
Just ain't got very much to say
Cause I realize you'll never love Hank Williams
And I don't like the Rolling Stones a bit
And all my friends have short hair and smoke Luckies
And all your friends have long hair and smoke s***

So go and roll yourself another reefer
And I'll go pour myself another beer
And please don't ask me why
We can't give it one more try
Cause I'm too drunk to tell you, babe
And you're too stoned to hear

I like to dress up and look just like a rich man
And you like wearing jeans and looking poor
And I like dancing slow where the Schlitz and memories flow
And I like to drink my Coke and you like sniffing yours
But I keep pretending everything's jim dandy
And you keep pretending everything's far out
So just pack up your grass and shake your hippie a**
Right back up North while I stay here down South

Go and roll yourself another reefer
And I'll go pour myself another beer
And please don't ask me why
We can't give it one more try
Cause I'm too drunk to tell you, babe
And you're too stoned to hear

Tiny Tim -- Then I'd Be Satisfied With Life (1968)

All I want is fifty-million dollars
And sealskins to protect me from the cold
If I only knew how stocks would go in Wall Street
And we're living in a mansion filled with gold
If I only owned Pennsylvania Railroad
And if Tuesday Weld would only be my wife
If I could only stay sixteen forever
Then I know that I'd be satisfied with life

All I want is wheat germ for my breakfast
A champagne fountain sizzling at my feet
A Rockefeller waiting on the table
And Lombardo's band playing while I eat
If I only owned Western Union Cable
And if Tuesday Weld would only be my wife
If I could only stay sixteen forever
Then I know that I'd be satisfied with life

AtomicEraTom - I could listen to John Conlee for hours. Great song.

Today I listened to an episode of the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes on Internet Archive. Basil Rathbone as Holmes. Supposedly Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson, but I didn't think it sounded much like him.
