Kenni Huskey -- Hollywood And Vine

We left our home in Arkansas
You wanted to make good
So we moved out west to this old town
They call Hollywood

Now we've been here for thirteen weeks
But you ain't made a dime
A standing on the corner
Of Hollywood and Vine

The sun sets on you on Hollywood and Vine
And you're still waiting there when the sun comes up at five
Guitar strings and tambourines but you ain't made a dime
Waiting to be discovered on Hollywood and Vine

You know that you've got what it takes
If it takes a million years
And that's just how long it just might be
But you don't seem to care

But if your dream don't work out
In the world you hope to find
Just call and I'll come running
Back to Hollywood and Vine

apologies if I posted this before...

...but it's today's earworm, not just the tune, but the arrangement and especially the bass sax solo.

A surprisingly good-sounding celluloid 78 from 1929 in a refreshing lemon-yellow.

One of my Grandpa's favorite songs is Sinatra's "Strangers in the Night". He sings it to this day, and my mom says he would always sing it, when she was growing up.

Apparently, Sinatra hated that song.

It's definitely not my favorite Sinatra song. In fact, I hate it too. Bert Kaempfert, the German composer of the song (a very succesfull composer of easy listening music [muzak alert!] and band leader throughout the 60's and 70's), was once introduced to the BOYS somewhere backstage after a Vegas show. They were obviously less than impressed with their guest. Frankie and Sammy didn't talk to him at all while Dean actually walked up to Kaempfert, muttering something halfway inaudible about how delighted he was to meet him - and then took the whiskey Kaempfert was given from his hands, turned around and walked off again. Kaempfert wisely and calmly decided to beat the retreat...

I love it too, but my favourite Sinatra song has to be "Just the Way You Look Tonight", "My Way" or, "Come Fly With Me".
