78s to fortify myself to shovel two feet of snow by --

Starting off in 1934 with Bing backed by Irving Aaronson and his Orchestra (no Commanders in sight), with the definitive recording of "Love In Bloom." No, the definitive recording was not made by Jack Benny.

Next up, ahead to 1935 with Duke Ellington and his Famous Orchestra picking up a juicy paycheck with their hit recording of the pop tune "Accent On Youth," from the film of the same name. No vocal, but a tenor sax solo by Ben Webster will do in its place.

This is why some of us, do not question ,do not argue, just sit still, relax .... enjoy really... the sound of dance bands (20s early 30s) as oppose to... well, as opposed to to other things :p [huh]

From across the pond, I am listening to Carroll Gibbons and The Savoy Orpheans "On The Air' 1932.

This week I've been listening to a lot of Henry Hall music, far too much Phillips Glass music, some Ella Fitzgerald and some bluegrass music my wife likes.

78s to shovel more wretched snow by ---

Starting off with Jimmy Noone and his Apex Club Orchestra in 1931, with Mildred Bailey vocalizing on "Travelin All Alone." And nobody to do the shoveling, either.

Next, following a commercial for Pall Mall Cigarettes (Modern Design Makes The Big Difference!), back to 1929 with Paul Specht and his Orchestra offering a tune from the Duncan Sisters' recent film epic, "Sailing On A Sunbeam." Johnny Morris is the vocalist, but sounds terribly bored with the whole proposition.

Richard Cheese - Lounge Against The Machine, Tuxicity, I'd Like A Virgin, Aperitif For Destruction, The Sunny Side Of The Moon, Dick At Nite, Viva La Vodka: Richard Cheese Live.

Basically, I've got my iPod on Artist selection and plugged into my office speakers. Not exactly work appropriate, but no one ever stays around long enough to listen carefully, and if its really inappropriate I'll turn it down. Most people that hear him are intrigued though.

ETA: Not great video, but the best audio I could find (at least of a non-offensive song). He's great live though.
