What Aero lining in the summer

I have an Aero Windward made in FQHH and I specified the same lining as a M422a in burgundy satin.

I'd say satin is a great choice for a summer lining. It isn't too warm even with such a heavy hide and also makes it very easy to slip on and off.

It's not the most hard wearing material true but it is very silky...

This is really a nice jacket for those who are also into short and stylish jackets. Today I own three Windward (vintage black FQHH / cordovan FQHH / standard brown FQHH) and the next is in on my mind as a Summer Windward with the satin lining. (Winter Windward comes later . . . )
I am glad to hear that you confirm my thoughts that the satin is a good choice for summer.

They say they feel/look like cotton, but is light wool.

Maybe I can confuse this a bit more. I have two FQHH jackets with cotton drill lining. I wear them up to about 20 °C, hardly ever warmer than that. And I dislike wearing them below 5 °C. In between they're fine with just a shirt.

Anyway, up there in the Norgie land evenings can get cool even in the summer, same as here, but I still prefer A-2 type of leather and lining for the summer... And yes, the cotton drill is fine with just a t-shirt, not uncomfortable at all.

Cotton Drill

I've got ridiculously heavy cotton drill on an older custom FQHH Aero halfbelt deluxe which I like quite a lot. The jacket is nicely windproof but not particularly warm if that makes sense. I do find that the drill is so heavy that it tends to bunch up where the cloth is darted at the armpits and down the sleeves but it has held up to several years of very heavy wear without a mark, pull or snag. The lining looks like it may outlast the FQHH shell. Given the option for a summer weight lining in a jacket I'd go with an A-2 type cotton lining with something "slicker" down the sleeves.

I also have many AERO's with heavy cotton drill and since I purchased one of them February 2006 -
I weared it extremly often in every kind of rain /storm and sun!

I weared it if I was sad or glad - In love or disappointed - and look at it now:
There's no signs of wear anywhere - so it seems that the drill cloth lining will live as long as the hide will give that awefull look ...just great. . . BTW - just my humble opinion - Nothing compares to AERO's CROME EXCEL FRONT QUARTER HORSEHIDE - that for sure ....over and out!

Before you order I would really consider Aero's olive drab Gaberdine as a lining option. It is as durable as cotton drill and probably offers the same ability to breathe but it's much smoother than drill due to the way it is woven. I had a Cafe Racer with cotton drill lining and whenever I wore just a T-Shirt and the jacket the skin on my elbows started to hurt due to the rough texture of the lining. Gaberdine is much more comfortable on bare skin and it doesn't grip your clothing as much as drill does.
Plus the pale olive colour looks good.

I did consider the garbadine, but I ultimately went with the
cotton drill.

I really like the looks of the brown cotton over the green garbadine.

Maybe I could ask them to line just the arms with the garbadine.
Ill email Amanda, i did give her the final specs today as well
as the payment, but there is still some weeks before the jacket is made.
