Here's a shot of my junky thrift shop leather jacket. It's hardly vintage, but it's beat up enough that it's comfortable, and I think it looks cool that way.

what do you all think?

Only problem with it is the liner. It keeps ripping, and I have to sew it up all over the place. THe elastic has come out of the waist too. But for 15 bucks, I really can't complain, especially since it fits.

Amen to that, brother. I have a very similar jacket (but with no zippers on the tops of the pockets) that I got in Hollywood for $13. I wear it every durn day.

It might be worth it to get a new liner.

Sew

You might try a local dry cleaners with a resident sewing machine
for a fast stitch. That's what I frequently do for a nylon flight jacket
which is way past its prime. And speaking of old cheap jackets, I picked
up a $30 Chinese import while in college, wear it all the time, and consider
it a more sensible wardrobe investment than all the flight jackets now
hanging in my closet.

The rips aren't all that big. It's wearable with them, and if I don't do anything stupid to it, they don't spread much. I just wonder where they come from. They seem to pop up by themselves in places that don't make much sense.

Good looking jacket, even if it isn't a peacoat! The liner probably has some "dry rot" and is beginning to disintegrate. Not much you can do about it except keep repairing or go to the expense of a new liner. I would keep repairing.

Behind the 8 ball,..
I used to have one something like that.

Quite liked it but the knits gave out so I donated it. I wish I still had it now that I see that knits on jackets can be replaced fairly easily. :(
