Do you stow it (and then watch some fat lady stuff her carry-on right on top)?
Do you wear it (like Indy, pulled down over yer eyes)?
Do you set it on yer knee?

Whaddaya DO? [huh]

I pull it down over my eyes. That way it doesn't get smashed and I get a break from the bright light.

The last time I was on a flight, I was wearing my Adventurebilt. I stored it on my head, that way I would be sure to know if it was getting mistreated.

The nest time I will be flying I will have on my Campdraft, it will also be stored on my head.

I am flying on Saturday and trying to decide which hat to bring. I may bring my gray Borsalino because it is soft and crushable. Then, I was thinking of bring my gray Adventurebilt because I think it looks better on me. Hmm.[huh]

Typically, in flight, it's on my head. ;)

I normally wear it during the flight. Otherwise I keep it on my knees.

I once kept my hat on my knees for a plane ride. It got in the way of reading and general movement.

For the QM I would like to have at least two hats available. Other than my wife and son each wearing a fedora I might wear one and store another in the overheard.

On the knee Blackhorse. It's the only way.[huh]
You must not make very many long flights (or else have a very small head?:p ) Or you just fly first class?

I can't imagine keeping my hat on my knee for a long flight- there's hardly enough room for my knees as they are, and I'm not very tall. Having a hat there would rule out putting down the tray-table, and thus prevent me from getting the free beverage which is mysteriously still included in the price of a plane ticket in the U.S. (in Australia you pay for everything).

On short flights I keep my hat on my head, but flying from Sydney to L.A., I decided I'd rather not have my Federation on for 13 hours straight. For one thing, it's hard to get comfortable enough to sleep with a wide brim. So I placed it on top of my carry on bag in the overhead. It came out just fine. I suppose if you were really worried, you could bring a hat box as your carry on, and stick the hat in that for the flight, but if your hat is so delicate that it couldn't take an overhead compartment, you might want to rethink wearing it on long trips anyway.

If I'm not wearing it I usually put the tray table down and sit it on there.
It's usually on under 3 hour flights so it's not too bad either way.

If you're going to Italy, bring the Borsalino. It probably hasn't been to its home country in decades (if it's a vintage one).

Sometimes I'll wear mine, if it's a short trip. Otherwise, I drop down the food table and lay it there, provided the tray doesn't have honey-roasted peanut residue on it. My hats have a tendency to fall off of my knees. I either have fat knees or a small head, still trying to decide which.

i fit my two straw hats one inside the other in a hat box and gave it in with the checked luggage. there's no way i'd be comfortable enough to sleep in a hat (i find it very hard to sleep if i'm not in my pajamas, i.e. a t-shirt and shorts)
