Okay I really like what you’ve done with the crown here

It hangs by the front door & I wear it quite a bit around my place.

I think the Warrego would be a great start for the Planters Hat

OK, I'll bite. Why not?

It already has the telescope crown, and the brim would need to be flattened less
Check the dimensions; the crown is .5 to 1” too tall. Planters are 3.75 - 4”. A Planter is more of a bubble crown than a Telescope. The brim is too thick to do much with. I’ve seen sponges that aren’t that thick. I doubt you could ever put a curl in it. And if it “already Is one” as the poster says the ribbon is all wrong.

BB, I love the hat, jacket, and boots. You've got the whole package going on there.
Simeon, thank you, sir. I know you have an appreciation of Westerns and western Wear.
Sharp as ever, Cuz. Those crocodiles are killing me.
Thanks, Cuz. Been awhile since they'd been off the shelf. Good to hear from you..
Damn SHARP!
All my Cuzin's today. Thanks, Rick.

Thank you, Joe.
Walk off Western win here, Greg!

One of your best posts i recall.
Heck…one of the best posts i’ve seen in a good long while around here.

I appreciate effortless style.
You can’t get that posing.

Wow! Such a fine compliment and not one I'm sure I deserve but what the hell, I'll take it. Thank you, Bowen and much appreciated.

The newest member of my stable, which rolled in yesterday. It’s an unlined black Stetson, No.1 Quality, with a 3.5” brim, not counting the kettle curl (which, due to poor pictures by the seller, I didn’t even know it had), and a 6-ply cord band. The crown would be 6” open, and, as creased, is 4” at the front and 5.5” at the sides. It has a cattleman’s crease, with a VERY slight downward slope, not really enough to call it a Gus, and slight mule kicks front and rear.

From the pristine appearance, and the lack of any “re-crease” lines, I’m pretty certain this was its original, and only, shape. It was definitely a dress hat, not a workingman’s western, and I'm estimating it dates from the early 1940s.

Wow—just catching up on the Western thread and MAN that’s a spectacular addition, Mark. Congrats!
