The Four Points Silverbelly 20X Rand...

Made a quick run to the local big box DIY store yesterday for some gardening supplies and, since the weather was tolerable for a change, thought I'd leave the baseball cap at home and wear this.
In the garden center I heard a woman yell out
"I LOVE that hat!".

I wanted to post separately about a primarily western custom hatter I found in rural western SD last week.
Jack at Weather Hats does some really great work, and I love that he gets creative with ribbons and creases— totally legit, and he doesn’t jump to grumpily putting down other hatters’ work, like some I’ve encountered over the years. Really great to talk shop with him for a few hours and get a glimpse of his equipment and process.
Contrary to what Google searches yield, he is definitely in business and contactable by phone. I started a Weather Hats thread.

Great hat and that liner is fantastic!

One of my favorite creases for a Western is the Montana Pinch with the Mule Kick.
Here's Henry Fonda from the movie, "My Darling Clementine" sporting a Montana Pinch...

This was a pretty easy project to do. A generous fellow Lounger sent this one to me. It was a little rough and distressed, perfect for making it look like a natural working cowboy's Western. I didn't have to remove anything from the hat to restyle it to a Montana Pinch. I'll make it a work hat for this Fall.

we finally got a break from the summer heat...a cold front moved in last night and it's 80 outside today. the downside to the good weather news is that the humidity is 77% right now.

I may be pushing the edge of the envelope but may chance it and break out some felt today! Fall can't get here soon enough.
