Western, anyone?

Wearing my No. 1 Quality Stetson refurb. This is the smallest hat that I sized up and reworked. I blocked this one up five sizes to fit me. I lost 3/4 of brim from 4 inches to 3 1/4 inches in the size up but I was still able to keep it Western.

Nothin' like good ol' Country and Western jukebox music to wear our hats by!

Guy Mitchell and Ray Price singing two different versions of "Heartaches by the Number"

I think the smaller brim works very well with this hat. I really dig the way you shaped it. It’s hard to believe that the low end (Number 1) felt of 60 years ago is better than what we find on the top end hats of today.

I like it. I like Westerns with a little less brim and a wide brim. Looks great. And as always I agree with your taste in music. :)

Looks great, Terry. I prefer the 3.5” brim on westerns myself. I know whiskey isn’t your favorite color but it looks great to me.

Thank you, Brent. Yeah, I think a 3.5 brim will work out better on this Whiskey color. The color looks really good on other people, it's just a color that I don't warm up to. Other than the color, it's a heck of a hat and all the original stuff that came with it are in very good condition, which I'll be reusing.

Thank you, buddy! I used to wonder what all the Hoopla was about over these vintage No. 1s, until I came across this one. Now I know why they're highly prized. You're right. The modern felt quality is no where near what it was 60+ years ago.

Getting close to finishing this 3X Resistol refurb. Sweat band's sewn in, crown is creased to my preferred Teardrop, and it's set aside to dry for a day. Tomorrow I'll reshape the brim and put the liner and hat band back in it. Should make for a nice western, except for the color...

Looks great!

I’m really looking forward to seeing the black Caxton.

Thank you buddy. I should have it finished tomorrow. The crown is pretty much dry now. Just gotta reshape the brim and put the ribbon and liner back on it.

Yeah, the Caxton will probably be next. That's a pretty interesting hat and should make a nice project. I'll lose some brim blocking it up a couple of sizes and with changing the open crown shape. But I think there'll still be enough brim to keep it Western.
