Look at some old pics of Hank Williams. He often wore a round-ish crown with a wide pinch in the front and a fedora brim...up in back, down in front. Sort of a Rancher/fedora combo.

Okay y'all. I just got a mid or late 60's, maybe even early 70's, OR Twenty Five, that looks virtually brand new. It only has had a center dent put in it, otherwise the crown has never been creased. I've looked thru some of these pages, as well as the old catalog pages, trying to get ideas. I've found a few that seem somewhat different. But thought I'd just put this out to y'all, any ideas for the crease? I may or may not use your ideas, but just want them, as some of you folks might think of something I haven't, (which wouldn't be surprising if you knew me!)
I haven't measured the crown, but sure it is 5-5 1/2, and what, 2 1/2-5/8 brim?
Thanks

I'll check, thanks. Didn't he have a "horseshoe" creased in the top of the crown at one time? Seems I remember that from somewhere.

Congratulations on what sounds like an NOS Stetson Twenty-five OR. Be sure to check out the 25's belonging to Fruno & BB. They have some of the best that come to mind.

I have a late 1960's 25 OR that has the later embossing & liner. It has a different block to it & has some taper that I don't care for, so I have to crease it to minimize that taper look. Because of that I don't wear it much but have been thinking about trying again starting with a complete iron out to open crown.

Thanks. I found pics of Fruno's, but not BB's yet. Still looking.

The 3rd pic, sitting on the car fender, is what I used as a pattern to crease my Twenty Five. The wider brim tends to give it more of a western flare than the typical fedora crease, IMO.
I saw a few pics of him when I looked yesterday, wearing that or a similar hat. He wore several different styles as well. I even saw one of Hank Jr wearing what appeared to be an OR, with a crease like the pic you speak of. Almost as if he was going for his dads look.

Jr. has always gone out of his way to identify with his own music & not his father's music, I think. Back when he was younger he always wore Hi-7's.

Today he most often wears a Rancher in both felt & straw.

“... I am very proud of my daddy's name although his kind of music and mine ain't exactly the same....”

Jr. certainly had his own style and own sound.

After looking at umpteen hundred pics, I went with something similar to one of the stockman catalogs. Certainly There are others like it somewhere in these pages, but it seemed a rather simple crease and I liked it. I used the top of a little trinket my wife has, to get a near perfect circle.

I like it! I was looking forward to seeing it, after you said you were going to post pics. Worth the wait!!
Side note, I just posted another 25 I got this past week also, over in new hats. I pretty much kept the OR style crease on it. Thanks for your suggestions on the one I posted above. I will wear it in one day this week, and post a few more of it.

The Twenty Fives always seem to like a western flare. Thanks for sharing and I'll be looking forward to seeing the new one!
