I think Chocolate is dark Brown , more like Cordova (looks almost Black , especially at a distance), than Mink (my choice of those two) . Personally I'd go Sahara , or Natural (high underrated , and only a shade apart , almost unnoticeable) . If you like 6X Stetsons .
A tad darker than Cordova brown but not like black.

I think the "Diamond Horseshoe" designation was more a "quality" level than a style. Mine was different than this one and in more of a cattleman style with a Fort Worth crease and shorter brim. It was from the 1970s and think the sweatband actually ready "Diamond Horseshoe 115" (meaning $115).

I understand now, it's a model & not a crease. I always thought it was the crease. I got the two "diamonds" in the side pinches but I could never see a horseshoe out of it.

Thanks Michael.

Trying to sell a hat for a friend. Before I insult someone or embarrass myself in the classified section, could someone of the Western Knowledge Society PM me with some guidlines on this one? The hat is kind of cool, just not my thing. I know nothing about westerns... values, rarity, what is junk etc...

The hat is a Stetson Tom Mix in black. The mfg tag and box appear to be newer (80s? 90s?) Size is OK at 7 3/8ths. It is huge in it's presence and dimensions. Any help here would be appreciated. Can someone do a fellow lounger a solid?

I've been enjoying and wearing the heck out of my Stetson Skyline Silver Belly and Black, as well as a really nice Atwood Hereford palm leaf (Atwood even added a custom sweat band for me- all for $60!).

Question- I now have an opportunity to buy a Stetson Chocolate for even less than I paid for either Silver Belly or Black. Great fit, decent 6X. Is the Chocolate enough of a difference in color to go for it?
I like to have a hat that isn't black or light in color. Any of the Brown's, I prefer natural or Pecan seem to work for me when I don't want a black or light color like silver belly. I find the Pecan or natural I wear don't show as much dirt as the black hats. Always good to have a choice!

Thanks Michael. I'd probably prefer Mink but the closest thing in the Skyline is the Chocolate. The Sahara is a little too "not quite" for me. I'm sure it's nice but just not my preference- yet! I'll probably have one soon enough! I don't have any retail shops to see the chocolate in person, so I'm hopeful that it's the rich brown I anticipate.

It's funny to me how each day often demands a different color- some days I feel like my black and some days call for the Silver Belly. The hats have personality. It's a mood thing- not good or bad, just different. So adding a brown makes sense too.

I just replied about the need for a brown before reading your post. It's so true- I love the black and Silver Belly but I think the brown will add a bit of utility for the reason you mentioned- I anticipate it won't show dirt like black/Silver Belly.

Question- I have separate brushes and sponges for the black and Silver Belly; do I need another brush for brown or will the brush I use for the black work fine?

No Fivesense , just use the Dark Brush for Darks , Light Brush for Lights . Two Brushes and Two Sponges will cover it . I think Pecan is the Lightest of the Browns , and Natural is the Darkest of the Tans , Granite is the Lightest of the Grays .

I think you have sorted everything about it.
How much are your friend looking for it?
