Wednesday went over to Lockhart and picked up a couple of hats I had over at Texas Hatters. This is my old dirty work hat from years ago. Heck my dad bought it for me and he's been dead almost 20 years. All I had hatters do was stick a new sweatband in it.

Posting this pic in response to mouthy moustaches too!!! ;)

What's the going price at TH for a sweatband replacement?

Just found this thread and after looking at all the hats and reading the comments I decided I should post a few of mine here as well.

This is a Resistol, not sure the model but it was purchased from Lou Taubert Ranch Outfitters in Billings MT. in November of 1986. The hat was one that was out of the box and had dirt on it. I took this hat to Rich Rand in Billings and had the hat cleaned and blocked to my head shape for me. I wear it to Church, Weddings, etc. in warm weather as it is a very light color. Nice light construction to so it is not real hot or heavy.

I know the crease has been called that, but I never understood why?

Resistol has a line (or did) called Diamond Horseshoe , had a diamond horseshoe hat pin , and liner , usually came in 15X , 20X , 30X . I think Harv , and Joao have one . They offered special colors , too . Pastels , that stuff .

The bunch on Ebay out of Clovis NM that dissolve Western Stores that go out and they sell the inventory had a huge number for sell a month or two ago .

I understand now, it's a model & not a crease. I always thought it was the crease. I got the two "diamonds" in the side pinches but I could never see a horseshoe out of it.

Thanks Michael.

Welcome HJ ! That crease is a variation (version) of a Cutter Crease . But Diamond Horseshoe Resistols are Nice Hats . Usually the Hat Pin is swiped though .

Yes I bought the hat and it was a display model or something similar and it had some dirt on it. Also the hat did not fit me as well as I would have liked so I went across town to Rich Rand who had my "head" on file and had him clean and redo the hat to fit me. 31 years later I wish I had the original information on the hat as the sweat band and liner were replaced by Rich.

This hat is thin and lighter than some others I have had Not sure if it is the quality of the hat or not.

I've been enjoying and wearing the heck out of my Stetson Skyline Silver Belly and Black, as well as a really nice Atwood Hereford palm leaf (Atwood even added a custom sweat band for me- all for $60!).

Question- I now have an opportunity to buy a Stetson Chocolate for even less than I paid for either Silver Belly or Black. Great fit, decent 6X. Is the Chocolate enough of a difference in color to go for it?

I think Chocolate is dark Brown , more like Cordova (looks almost Black , especially at a distance), than Mink (my choice of those two) . Personally I'd go Sahara , or Natural (high underrated , and only a shade apart , almost unnoticeable) . If you like 6X Stetsons .
