Yes. I like your term better, too! I dunno what to call all these creases!!! LOL!
I've heard of the cattleman and rancher being awfully close!
I was looking on that crease poster.

That bottom hat is the one. Ringing back memories.

I remember all the old timers wearing that crease. Well being I spent the first 12 years of my life in Cowtown. The annual stock show at Will Rogers colosseum and show barn was quite a treat back then!! I suppose the last one I was at was in the late 60's. It was pretty popular crease all around. One I remember seeing the most as a kid was the std old cattleman crease. Especially on the old geezers.

Renault,

I always remember the Texas Rangers wearing a Fort Worth crease when I was a kid in the 1960's. Here is a perfect example. A picture of Captain A. Y. Allee.

This has nothing to do with hats but his father, grandfather and son were Texas Rangers. Also his brother was a Special Ranger with the Texas Cattle Raisers Association. He was the last of the pre-Department of Public Safety Rangers.

This 7X clear beaver arrived with a starfire crease. I changed it.

My square-crowned hat for today, my previously posted 1950's Resistol 50 cowtrack.

This is a FANTASTIC example of a vintage style crease you just don't see anymore!! I love it, especially with the big brim. The more squared off, low crowns with the wde brims rolled up at the sides are the quintessential cowboy look in my mind. It reminds me of all the country artists and cowboys I grew up watching on T.V.
GREAT job on that!

I remember those type of men. Knew a few of the old ones who would come in the shop (Bill Jordan every Christmas for example). Those men could de-fuse a situation simply by walking into the room!

Jordan and Allee were definitely those type of men.

Lots been going on in my world. I need a new hat. Just dunno which to get. Really leaning toward one of the Resistol Top Hands. Just don't know. And all these hats I've been seeing here are really making it hard on me!

I don't need a new "new" hat but John's collection makes me drool. A purple hat. Is it wool? I wanted a red one but only found made of wool. The yellow hat... really nice.

Like Landman, I don't like to see that centerfire crease in the front or back. Seeing it by the side looks like a cattleman.
The cowtrack looks more appealing to me. Maybe if I find a cheap hat to send to John...
7XCB are really nice felt and Alan have a wiiiiide brim.
OR's have a too small brim for me but in black they look nice.

Joao, the yellow was a 5x off brand made by Langenburg, I believe. I stretched the crown over a wine bottle & hand shaped it for a Curious George & Man In The Yellow Hat costume. The purple is a Bailey 5x. Both were rodeo queen hats, I reckon. I have a red Resistol that's a 3x, I think. I put a bit of "fur" from a Santa hat on it as a ribbon, for Christmas. Probably rebuild it with some white leather strap and crease it as a 1950's hat like the ones in "Toy Story" someday.

Better to let me find one & send it, so you don't pay for shipping it twice. PM your size, what quality you are looking for, want to pay, and what you want the end result to be, and I'll look for a suitable hat for renovating...

That was what the yellow hat made me remember, Curious George!
I don't know if I would wear a purple western... but who knows ;)
Your Resistol is a western or fedora? I got a wool western from Eddy Bros.

Western. I put in a telescope. The purple is for my daughter someday, but I would wear it with a "manly" enough crease and the right shirt/tie. Here's the green Resistol - only now that I look at it, I see it's actually a Miller 4x:
