Well, I really can't call this 20X Beaver Az-Tex a Western anymore. It started out as a 6 7/8 Western but I reblocked it to a 7 1/4 LO and converted it to a thin ribbon fedora...

On the other hand, this blue Resistol that I'm currently working on also started out as a 6 7/8 Western. I blocked this one up to a 7 1/4 LO as well but will be keeping it Western with a simple Cattleman and slightly curled 3 inch brim...

In the works with a dry temporary crease:
I'll have more on this one when I finish it...

Thanks to the fellow Lounger who sent me these hats.

That
Glad she found it early. Give her my best.

Cancer? The gift that just keeps on "giving".

I use to be pretty vain about my hair. Lots of it and brown/blonde. Lost it all, and 60 #, with months or chemo and rad, then the hair came back as some sort of weird fuzz. Didn't have to shave for like 5 years. Finally 10 years later all back to pretty much normal, a little thinner on top (as am I, still down 45#). But hair is way thicker on my face. Now pretty much anything I grow is snow white. I cut my hair shorter now most of the year, a buzz cut actually, and only wear it long when I am skiing or climbing a lot for the warmth and temp control in winter.

The rest of the year I wear a hat. Not so vain on the hair or much of else after that experience. I best wishes for both of you!

And that is one heck of a nice hat!

It sounds (and looks) like you are turning that Resistol into a Stetson Range, which is a hat I like.

I actually never gave any thought to it looking like a Stetson Range hat. I didn't know what one was until I googled it. Except for the taller crown on mine it's basically the same profile. The blue Resistol has a 6 inch open crown and will be 5 1/4 inches tall, as creased , compared to the Range's 4 1/2 inches. The brim width is the same 3 inches and will be shaped the same. I did a Resistol Ridgetop the same way this past Summer. Except the crown on this one is 5 inches tall, as creased. Still the same 3 inch brim. It's a style I like too...

I was wanting to do something similar to the hat Eastwood wore in the movie, "A Perfect World", when I did the Ridgetop.

I finally got my 4X Blue Resistol finished. It started out as a way too small 6 7/8. I blocked it up to a 7 1/4 LO to fit me. I had to block this one twice. The first time around the open crown was 6 inches but didn't quite look right with a Cattleman crease. I took it apart again and lowered the crown height to 5 3/4 inches. This second blocking gave me a fuller and more proportionate looking crown. The brim is 3 inches with a Cowboy curl. I was able to reuse the original two ply thin ribbon and liner.

Outstanding as always, Terry. Now we need shots of you wearing it outdoors in natural light. I too love the color!

Thank you Brent! Ive been trying to get some good pictures of the hat to catch the profile. I took a few selfies but they just don't cut it. My wife tried to a few of me wearing the hat but that didn't work out too well either. She's too short and I'm too tall. I'm either going to have her stand on a bucket or I'll have her get a pic of me standing on the steps while she's standing up on the porch!

No matter whether or not you get photos of you wearing it Terry, it's one wonderful Western conversion job, yet again. Congrats.
