Is her girl on the left holding her beau's hat?

Speculation is that was the photographer's hat or her spare "working" hat, knowing myself how a big hat handles the wind Or her boy friend's. Take your pick Do love that big old black hat she has on and the shape though! Some mighty cute (and tough) Montana women pictured there in 1917

Nice hat, but really hard to beat a wet Spring in California range land. That is some beautiful country. I can just imagine Spanish bulls and cattle wondering through the oak trees with a Grizzly on the prowl. Painting is by Jack Swanson, "Fall Gather". Herefords of course, sadly. But the bears are/were hungry in the Spring when the grass was still green and mew calves every where

Can't remember if I have posted this one prior. I like it a lot, just don't wear it often. Built it a couple of years ago on a Winchester blank. Silver belly, 5" brim, 5.5" open Bowler crown, all beaver.

Looking for another hat I found I had forgotten this Stetson 3X OR with keyhole tag. Very soft 3X with wind trolley. Someone apparently didn't know how to reloup the trolley so they just ran it around the crown, gathered up the bit of excess cord behind the button & put a couple of stitches thru the bow keeper to hold the button in place. I had forgotten to cut that loose & string proper.

I had forgotten to cut that loose & string proper.

Just got a Resistol on Ebay for a song. The seller said it was long oval and between a 7 1/2 and 3/8. That exactly describes me to a T. This is the best fitting factory hat I have ever worn. I wanted to personalize it so I put a leather hatband on it.
