I got the dents steamed out of my Artel straw hat. This is the easiest to shape straw, that I have ever worked on.

Got around to removing the brim wire and working on this Wrangler by Miller Bros. genuine "Monte Cristo." The closeup of the brim is where I cut the seam to access the wire. Closed it with a little wood glue massaged in and I didn't lose a stitch.

Thanks, Cuz. A "Gus" or some variation is usually my go to on a higher crown but the sloping center crease with pinches just collapsed in on itself with this hat, becoming real narrow. I started out with an arrow to give it some structure and rigidity, but I had to work the straw so much, I was concerned about breakage. I thought my old J1 was going to overheat as I went through about two qts. of distilled working the hat up.

Thank, Dd. Pretty happy with the crease. Removing the wire was the scary part. Learned a little from doing the first one. Just looks like a big Panama with an over welt now.
