Larry Mahan 5X Beaver. It’s on its way to a new hatter I found not too far from me for a new ribbon.

That hat you buy for the sweatband...

Alan, such a beautiful hat & perfect specimen. To me the style is timeless. The embossing & the short lifespan of Keith Bros Co is icing on the cake. It beckons back to a time when the Bengal Tiger & other such animals were beasts of mystery ("I have seen the elephant"). Such hats make hanging around the FL worthwhile. I know you have several pre-1940 Western dress hats; I would enjoy seeing some side by side comparisons with specs & measurements.

Dobbs West “Tall Pine B.” Nice (1960’s?) western that reminds me of the Resistol (and others) Stagecoach lines of hats. The 6 1/2 inch tall open crown allows for lots of creasing/shaping options.

Nice one, Brent. You could leave it alone, or take one of several options for personalizing this one.

That's a favorite. That band compliments the hat so well. I'd like to get something similar for my Dorer and get rid of the self felted band.
The pic of Chief Rolling Thunder was in black & white so I don't know what colors his was. The beader who copied the pattern suggested turquoise but I thought the colors brown, bone, & green would compliment the natural beaver. I was really happy with the results.

Cuz I'm a big fan of those TLs. The stitching is sublime. That Wormser is pretty special, too.

Dale, I think of you about every time I take these off of the shelf. One, because you always compliment me on them and 2, because you're an artist and some of the work I've seen of yours is very angular and done with a color palette that might not be everyone's first choice but the more you look at it, the more you begin to appreciate it. At least I do, Cuz.

I love the stitch pattern and colors but my eye was first drawn to them because the pattern seems to be abstract, without any sense of purpose until your eye settles on the fleur di lis in the middle of each shaft pattern. I have a pair or two with the fleur di lis all over them, I bet many of you do.
