Nutria

Just got a newtreeah and it is too funny. It is exactly the same style, brim width ribbon as my 100. It is much more pliable and quite soft but my opinion is that beaver is a lot nicer. Have to get it cleaned and blocked but overall very nice felt body with quite a high crown. The crease is cattleman but with a center ridge and 2 dents on either side. Unlike the 100 the brim is bound.
Just a kicker how the style size and ribbon is so similar. Western for sure.
Woah! just measured the open crown on the nutria. 6 inches yikes

Outside of the military type hats, isn't it neat how none of the other hats seem similiar in crease, brim or shape? Maybe the same color but that is it, a true reflection of the individual owner. Thanks for posting... gtd

I like the tan/light colored one, fourth from the right in the front row. And notice the grizzly jacket in the back left.

This is me from the summer of '06 wearing a cheapo Bailey wool thing that I cut down from 3 1/2" to 3 1/4". I am standing in an ink jet printer lab at my former workplace. The hat doesn't exacty match the setting.

Nice hat! Cowboy hats are like wine. You don't always have to spend a lot to get one that suits your taste.

As far as the setting... two words, photo shop. Maybe a nice shot of Monument Valley in the background?

Agreed, and notice how the squint balances out the asymmetrical bash. Classic shot.

Nutria

Nutria Quality? Not sure what that means. Have been looking for the rundown on the difference between beaver and clear beaver nutria and clear nutria.
This is thick sturdy but not stiff felt on this hat. Been trying different bashes and have currently put it into an old gus style. Nice hat overall but not beaver quality.

I'd take a nutria, Nutria Quality, or Clear Nutria hat over just about
any beaver hat I've ever had. This is partly because they aren't
made anymore, partly because they are amazingly strong felt. Not
a dress hat, but a classy hat that will serve you for a very long time
in any conditions.

If that hat's big enough, maybe we should trade...

Those are great photos, Alden405. There is something for just about everyone there. Thanks for the post.

Justdog, beautiful hat there. What is the brim width? Looks like it is not the typical wide western brim; almost like a slightly larger OR.

It is formed in a saucer so looks smaller than actually is but measures just shy of 3 inches where the hundred I have posted here is 3 The brim is bound on the Nutria.
