Did you go thru drifter? Your revelation that they had them (and in my size) thru me into a 3 day crisis of conscience. Fortunately, after 10 or so emails with Wesco it appears that they may not be the best for me fit wise. They are gorgeous looking boots but I’m really not in the market. Would you mind posting some fit details.

I think those 100th anniversary boots would look better with a double thick midsole and one less heel stack.

They are still bloody amazing as is. Cool boots Regius.

In short, this pair fits like Red Wings engineers. It’s D, although I need E in their current boss, for these I can do D. Hugs my instep just at the right spot and lots of toe room. Heel is high to get used to though.

I am really liking this Job Master and the leather combo. The colours appear to be redwood leather and burlap leather.

The single midsole with high heel look is more period accurate, I posted a Lee engineer somewhere, it looks just like the 100th anniversary. But, plenty of double sole versions exist back in the days.

I have a selection of boots of which two pairs are Wescos. Ever since I was a kid wearing Dr Martens and Kickers and in my twenties serving seven years in the RAF wearing aircrew flying boots I've always preferred boots over shoes.

Eventually I might order me some Wesco engineers. Can they be had without the stitched-on label? I was a bit disappointed when I bought my TCX boots and discovered the embossed logo on the front up towards the top, but the labels I've seen sewn on recent Wescos are much more obvious.

I haven't been on in a few years, but came upon this thread while looking for "Wesco Redwood Leather". I've had several pair of Wescos over the past 15 years, both as work boots and motorcycle/casual wear.
I had a working pair of stock Jobmasters in 2006-08 in Redwood that I really, really liked the leather. Well I got a new pair of Harness boots made with Redwood shafts and .... WTFedora? They've changed the Redwood from a natural feeling leather, like the black and brown, to a plastic-y, "finished" leather. It has a man made sand-cast finish (think aluminum intake manifold), is a little too shiny, and won't absorb oil like all the other Wesco leather's I've owned.
I'm bummed.
I talked with Wesco today, and the shop Forman said they went to the current Redwood leather several years ago, and confirmed that it is indeed different than the redwood Jobmasters I would have gotten around 2006.
Bummed.
I've as always ordered the "classic" leathers (regular Blk, Brn, Redwood), with the exception of a burlap pair. Is this how the newer leather styles, like the domains, feel? Thin, hard, plastic-y?

^^ I have only briefly owned a black pair of Wesco 7400's with the MP toe, which proved to be too narrow in the toe area for my feet. I would fully agree with you Maxwedge that I would not be happy with a pair of "finished" leather boots that would not take oiling. None of my White's, Nick's or Red Wing Iron Rangers has that type of leather at all.

That hasn't been my experience. I have a pair of brown domain 7400 and they took a polish exceptionally well. I also have a pair of BKH1939s, and they don't polish up as much, being horse, but they certainly take oil/dressing. I would ask them from which tannery/tanneries the black, brown, and redwood oil-finish leather come; it may vary by color or production run.

Agree. The brown domain leather I had was thick yet pliable. The depth of color absolutely gorgeous. Absorbed oil and could be polished to a degree. I’m a relative amature but think it was likely the nicest leather I’ve handled in any product.

I have handled a lot of Wesco's waxed domain leathers and they are incredibly nice across the board. I think they use the Seidel tannery for their waxed leathers. Their stock leathers are more in the vein of Red Wing's non-heritage work boot lines--tough leather but not great aesthetically. The stock options are also oil-tanned vs the waxed domain leathers, so they have no pull-up effect and have a flatter appearance. The oil tanned leather is also a bit thicker. All the PNW boot makers still make a lot of firefighting/ranching boots which are sold for less than a lot of the Wescos and Whites you see around here, and I believe the stock leathers are aimed primarily at the hard use crowd who is in it more for the build quality than the appearance.

Anyone who has seen vintage photos of Wesco’s engineer? Plenty of Sears boots on ebay but never seen a Wesco.
