Wesco black tie domain vs teacore

Hey peeps, not that I need another boot, but want a black engineer.

Looking at wesco 7400 makeup with a soft boss toe instead of mp toe.
White thread around the sole, black elsewhere, copper buckle
My question is whether to get standard black tie domain (smooth, shiny, soft, gray underneath) or teacore (little rougher, stiff, brown underneath)

I believe if I choose teacore it will limit the last and sole I can choose?

Basically looking for opinions on the look, feel, comfort, and aged look of wesco domain v teacore

Should be no difference in what leather you choose vs sole selection.

I just ordered some custom Wesco Jobmasters and did not notice a tea core type leather available. Just black tie domain and their regular oiled black and black rough out.

I recently ordered a pair of the 7400 model as surplus stock from Wesco in the black domain leather and I have to say they feel positively indestructible. Really impressed by the quality and comfort, so much so that I am constantly scanning their website even though I am sure these boots will see me out. They feel like a proper, functional work boot.

Report back on fit please. I was told to go to an E width on the 7400 so I am curious.

I ordered my Jobmasters in burgundy domain. Its going to be a long 14 week wait.

I have E in other wescos and they seem to be like a normal d. I will say that every wesco I have it TTS 11, unlike alden barrie or rw heritage which I do a 10.5

I have a test fit pair of the Jobmasters coming next week in an 8.5 D before Baker orders my burgundy pair. I am usually a 9D in everything except Red Wing which I am usually an 8 - 8.5 depending on style.

I was told by Baker Shoe to drop down a 1/2 size in the Wesco from my usual sneaker size. They said a regular D width should be fine but in the 7400 to move to an E due to the narrow motorcycle patrol last used. Good thing I decided to order a test pair of their shelf stock Jobmaster to try first.

So I had (and sold off) a beautiful pair of 7400 engieers with the MP toe. There we 12D and too tight. I'm typically 11.5 - 12 D so thought there would be no issue. It was the "top" of the toe area making contact with my toes that really caused the issue. I would pland ot size up a bit and as others have said, consider an E width if you are normally a D width. GL, they are awesome boots if they fit you.

The Hendricks have really caught my eye. Having a hard time deciding between teacore horsehide and black tie domain.

Anyone have experience in terms of breatheability (considering summer wear)?

How does the black tie domain hold up compared to teacore horsehide?
I've seen the teacore showing pretty significantly on the horsehides. Are the black tie domains more resilient to keeping its coloar like regular chrome tanned leather?

Is there a price difference between the two?

Doubt seriously there will be much of a breath-ability difference between the leathers. They are both rather thick, heavy, bulky leather boots, which also fortunately have no synthetic padding, lining, or other additional parts that would further compromise the breath-ability. Saying that, I would go with your preference. Price differences? It's all on their website in the "build my boots" section.

My engineers are black tie and extremely comfortable. Very supple leather, but sturdy for sure.
I have some other wesco's that are the toughest, thickest, and stiffest leather I have seen.

These with the black tie are not like those.

Yes, more grayish with wear like traditional black leathers. I am just now being able to wear mine more often, we had a brutal hot summer.

I've got the Wesco 7400 in black domain, brown domain, and british tan domain. I don't know what the "domain" is intended to convey but the leathers are all very different in terms of flexibility and character. Black tie is the most supple, and british tan is quite stiff.

I'm pretty sure teacore just means their black horsehide, which is CXL and not struck through.

Interesting that the leathers vary. I have brown tie. Quite soft. Much softer than my RW “klondike” which i have never been able to ascertain exactly what type of leather/process they are exactly. Def not died thru.

The brown tie is a great leather, feels pretty waxy. The redwing klondike is a total mystery, the leather is dyed a strangely bright orange/brown and painted with a very colorfast matte topcoat. Very hard wearing leather though. I have the steel-toed version that I wear for work and the tea core only barely comes through in the most severe scuffs.

posted this elsewhere today. The teacore here is all genuine, no fake paint over brown like some makers & traders here & in japan. This Rudels boots never intended this effect, just good old leather. I don’t dig the overrated tea core hype.

I like incidental tea core effect but I think making a leather to intentionally tea core quickly is silly ala buying pre-ripped jeans.
