They're certainly just the ticket rise-wise. I always keep an eye out on eBay for a pair of 30" ones, but they're rare as hen's teeth.

TBH, LVC still My favorite selvedge jeans, and I think you still can find cheap pair on ebay and when it is on sale in some website/mall.

For day to day wear, current issue jeans are fine for me. When wearing my many A-2’s and vintage leather/cloth jackets I do like to go vintage. High waisted is essential for wear with A-2‘s!!! However I am not a huge fan of LVC’s. I have owned 6 or 7 pair (still own two) and have mostly not been happy with the vintage cuts. They may be accurate but I don’t think they look nearly as good as other, cheaper options. Ok, I will say it, I think the dark indigo blue looks terrible with the typical A-2, vintage brown colors. If the LVC’s have significant fades, that makes a huge difference but it my case, it takes forever to break them in (and in the long process, one wears what many people consider cheap/dorky looking jeans - by todays standards). I have purchased used/broken in ones that look pretty good but they are never my go-to jeans and yes they are the correct size and I am an average build. I have had great luck typing in “Levis 510 Jeans US made” on the bay. I have found wonderful high waisted jeans from the 70’s/80’s that fit great, have super fades and most important are a somewhat lighter color blue that IMO looks much better with brown leather. I typically pay $15-25 a pair for these. Its true that the denim from this era is not as durable as I would like but that’s a minor issue at 1/10 the price of new LVC’s.

Also, some of the “mall” brands have been surprising good (not many but some). Daniel Cremieux sometimes has very nice vintage high waisted options that end up being on sale in Dillard’s here in the US for about $15-20 a pair. These dark indigo's have developed nice fades relatively quickly. Wrangler still makes some old school jeans if you like the dark indigo for reasonable prices.

Agreed, LVC can’t be beat for authenticity but there are many significantly less expensive options for one’s vintage wardrobe. As we all know, used LVC’s can be found on line for a bargain from time to time. My 2 cents...........

There is a brand called "unbranded", they made good jeans, but the cut is modern.

Well, that was just meant like....as a compensation for lack of heavy fabric we can mix and match however we feel like. Eggshell also feels alittle efemenite as a name for a color so thought it sounded funny, but it is a good decription, i will give it that, and its a versatile color.

Personally I would have liked bloodred thread on black denim if that was a choice....just to see how it would end up

Ok, these aren't US made but these are my first pair of selvedge jeans. I've got 2 pairs from Uniqlo coming on Wednesday which I paid $39.90 ea. I'll eventually upgrade to Gustin and some of the other US brands out there but I wanna test these first

I have a pair of GAP selvedge jeans, the 1969 model. that I bought NWT off StyleForum for $25. I like them quite a bit. I have a few pair of Gustin's too. Great value and I like the conservative stitching.

I ended up buying the slim fit because the straight fit were baggier than i liked. I'm hoping the slims will stretch in time. They feel a little tight in the legs, but they're not uncomfortable. Overall I like them, but more so because I didn't pay the $108 msrp

I just got 1940s USN repros from a brand called Lutece Mfg. Co.
As far as I know they are about 13 oz selvedge denim. Certainly heavy enough for me. But the important part is the HIGH RISE and wide leg, buckle back.

On the downside they are Made in Thailand.[huh]


The go for about £50 or 70-80€ on various ebay shops and other reenactment supply internet shops.

Also got 2 pair of them "Lutece" and they ain't that bad keeping their price in mind
They are mostly popular with reenactors portraying USN or very early Army

Yeah pretty certain they are the okayama denim. works out quite a bit cheaper if you need hemming plus free delivery, that is 29 dollars saved. one of the other denims looks to be the japan umber that gustin sells.

I wonder if you do the Earlier Bird Special, if you could select that one as your denim choice?

What do you think about the selvedge id lining the top of the back pockets? I like the look, but I'm thinking it might not hold up well with time and wear.

Nah unfortunately he has said he can't do that due to fabric costs, which is believable given the weight of the fabric. Plus the heavier denims are usually more labour intensive.

Finally got my hands on a pair of 15oz Kojima. Paid less than USD 80 including shipping. Made in Japan including the hardware. Pretty nice with Red-line, buttons, copper hardware, thick leather patch and all. They are mainly one-wash model, i.e. already soaked once.
