Well, besides standing at the Cahuenga off-ramp of the 101 with a sign "Will Rite for Xmas dinner" on Dec 24, everything is fine! Got two microwave burritos and half a bottle of Yoo-hoo!

Actually, I haven't a clue as to when this thing will be resolved. There are so many variables at play here: the DGA (the directors) are supposed to start talking to the Companies; other individual deals, like the one Letterman made, could be done; worst case, we all - the writers, directors, actors - all shut down for a long time. The last possible scenario is highly unlikely, almost impossible. But, really, who knows? The arrogance, hubris and intransience of the Companies is befuddling! Yes, the amount of money at stake here is boggling in terms of the New Media. But what justifies the cost and the toll the strike is taking to preserve such a small portion of it, the part we are asking for? Some believe that they want to break the Union, which, in part, I agree with. There has been so much vertical intergration in media that a very few control most of the information for the very many. And, as we, as Americans have come to learn, they - the proverbial they - don't like to share or play fair. So, where and when this all ends, I wish I knew - but I've stopped guessing. I will just keep walking the line and hoping for the best and thanking you and others for their support.

Yes, two miles down the street. I don't eat there as I like to be able to sleep at night but I take my husband when he's home on leave and my dad loved to go there in the middle of the night for a Garbage Plate.

fftopic: As I understand it, Mr. Lucky's hometown is Buffalo, New York as in "shufflin' off to Buffalo". I currently live in Rochester, an hour or so from Buffalo. Well, It Looks Like I'm NOT on Strke!

A contract has been reached and two votes will be taken. The process of the next 48 hours (the vote by the membership to repeal the restraining order) is just a formality - as of Wed. the WGA strike will be over. Ten days later the new contract will be ratified. It was an exceptionally hard fought battle and the gains, while not perfect, are MORE than enough in terms of the sacrifices made, the present pay off, and especially for the future.

I come away from this with a much greater respect for my fellow writers, and for organized labor in general. It's hard to stand up for what is right. But it sure feels good.
