Wearing trilbies etc. too far back on the head?

I usually wear my hat pretty far back, and it's a pretty big hat. I like having a shaggy mop of hair sticking out all around - front, back and sides. It's funny that my avatar has me wearing the hat the normal way, because I almost never do. My profile picture is more par for the course. I wear my hat pretty far back because I'm not trying to look suave or intimidating. I generally aim for something of a Bohemian look, I suppose. Besides, they say wearing a hat tilted back is considered welcoming and friendly, and that's me. People often take it upon themselves to reposition my hat the way you all probably wear yours, tilted to the front and cocked a bit to one side, but I don't want to look pimping, so to speak. I want to look unassuming. So I do. I don't know what my IQ is.

I personally think it is not a matter of where the hat is, but where the the hat is in relation to how you carry yourself. I carry myself in a manner that looks best with the hat tilted slightly forward and a bit to the side (Let me stress a BIT, not too much). But that is what works for my attire and my demeanor. Different demeanors allow for different styles. Although, being honest, the hat really does travel around my head a lot. The tilt I have it at is just where I consciously place it.

This has been my first post. How did I do?

Speaking of traveling around your head, my hats always seem to eventually end up in the same general place on my head no matter where it starts out - slightly to the left and slightly tilted back. Must be the arrangements of the lumps and bumps.

Glenn Ford wore his hat tipped back quite a bit, looked good on him:

To me, that brim looks a bit wider than what I would normally associate with a Trilby. With a narrower brim tilted back, I don't think he would look as good.

Good point - I tend to agree. Of course that might, heaven forbid, open the can of worms with the label that reads: "what is a Trilby, exactly?", which has already been opened so many times.....

I associate it with IQ. The further back, the lower the IQ
That is bar none the most stupid reply I've ever heard on this forum (unless it was an attempt at a joke) . Angles mean attitude, my grandpa (He's 86 this year) said that any hat-wearer with a little self-respect would wear the hat tilted to one side (usually to the right) .. Wearing a hat completely straight just looks plain odd to me.

The comment was about wearing a Trilby tilted BACK.
No mention whatsoever was made concerning tilting to the SIDE.

Today, male Hollywood cool is measured in how 'just got out of bed' one's hair looks.

It works. I started getting compliments when I started going that route. I just stick my head under the faucet and then dry it off with a towel so that it looks like I don't care, repeating as necessary till it looks like I don't care in a good way. That means, on a good morning, I can be done with my hair in 10 seconds flat. Throw a hat on, and even that starts looking unnecessary.

I wear mine tilted back now and then, but I don't usually wear trilbies, only if I'm doing something where I suspect the hat may get ruined.

You gotta be careful.
You could be going for this.

And look more like this.

Whatever the comment (hat on back of head = low IQ) was about has little effect on the degree of stupidity of the comment. It is an incredibly stupid comment, as are most such comments, like the one in the first post which I see has now been edited for content (it was homophobic in nature).

I had hoped the comment was an attempt at comedy, but from this recent reply, it would seem not …[huh]

Wearing it tilted back or to the side is one and the same to me, but tilting it up/down left/right or even if you wear the hat backwards wasn't really my main issue at all, i just found it stupid that you think there's a correlation between how far you tilt your hat back and your IQ, that's all.

Have a nice day!

Lightweight. Shave your head, and then tell me about 'low maintenance hair'. ;-) I'm done in half that most mornings. ;) lol
