We have lost a hatter.

There isn’t a Wiki page for certain people. He had passion; fortitude far beyond what I could ever muster. When I met him he was wearing a dress shirt with the sleeves cut off, there wasn’t a time I saw him where he didn’t look ready for action. He told me, that in America, if you work hard and you keep working you can do anything, and that’s what he did. He fought Nazis in WWII and afterwards came to the US where built a legacy by opening his own cap factory after learning the trade and how to speak English and making a savings. It was about 5 years ago when I met him and he was a ball of energy tossing caps at me while I was putting together a new line. Pushing fabric books at me when I think I was more enamored with his spirit that I was with thinking through the season of styles. There are few people left in this world of hatting that can tell you the stories he has, and he was absolutely one of a kind.

Ruby… you were awesome, and you were inspiring, and you will be completely missed.

I'm wearing a classic Mechanic cap. The first style he and I worked on.

Ruby was an interesting person. I had the oppurtunity to buy from him a while ago. He was a good person and owned one of the last cap factories in the USA.
