There isn't a whole lot of difference, only with Office Communicator, you can only communicate with one person at a time, and in some programs, invite one or two more people into a conversation.

With a chat room, its the same as a physical room - Anyone can walk in. There could be 50 people in a conversation at one time. I don't believe it would be open to lurkers, only members who sign into it.

Thanks C-DOT, and by the way I knew a guy called C Dot years ago and you look NOTHING LIKE HIM. Let's just say he gave engine-nerd a whole new meaning.

He signed EVERYTHING "C.", hence the name. He cut his hair, himself, every 4-6 months. No combing etc between hair cuts, and he once achieved a reverse Mohawk. He was also Nationally famous within our company for his plumber's cleavage...
