Ways to select the lid of the day

I'm thinking of making my dress routine go a bit faster in the mornings.
Hat selection is what usually takes longer than all the other parts of getting dressed each day.

I believe I will make a spinner thingamajig, sort of like wheel of fortune, and label the hats on it. Spin it, see what hat it lands on, don that hat and then commence the selection of pants, shirt, boots, etc.
Should save me 10 minutes easy.

It will have to be portable so I can take it with me on travel.

I wear a uniform to work, but when I dress up or pack for trips I definitely have to lay out tons of shirt and tie options. Lately, I keep it simple. Jeans, shirt and a grey lid.

Ohhh, I wouldn't want to cut down on that process. I like the 'zen' of considering and choosing the hat to compliment the get-up. I've arranged things in my life and profession where most days I have abundant time to enjoy such pursuits prior to going out to ply my trade, run an errand or have a meeting.

Now it does turn out that I decided earlier today to simplify the theming, if you will. On Mondays and Wednesday evenings, I work in an outdoor environment which is designed in a style I think of as "St. Augustine-esque". It has a Florida downtown '40s vibe to some of the surroundings like the architecture on the front of the cinema, etc. So, on those days I plan to stick to felts with collared dress shirts and suspenders sometimes. During the hottest months here there is, however, a natural process of limiting the felts I am willing to subject to the heat and sweat.

On Tuesdays and Thursday evenings, the set-up is styled much more like a Key West theme. So, until the thermometer is in the low 70s - which can be well into November or December here - I'll be doing the straws with flowery shirts and slacks or linen shirts and slacks.

There'll still be plenty of trying on different options within that little system but that's fine by me.

I can only imagine...with 1 panama and 1 brown felt, I still ponder the possibilities. If I ever amass a collection similar to some I've seen here, I'll definitely need to teach my wife the "dork" line...not that she'll take long to learn it

Half the fun is picking out the clothes.

I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and
start thinking about which tie will look good with
which hat/shirt combination.

I sometimes let the weather determine my
choice of hats. Lately with all the hurricane
activity I've been sticking to hats with
smaller brims to avoid chasing them
across the parking lot.

Staw hats are out on rainy days.
Thick felt ones get passed over on
hot, humid days.

It's a great way to get my brain started
in the morning and gives me something to
look forward too.

I guess that means I have no life![huh]

I only have about a half dozen hats, so it rarely takes me that long to select a hat. For work, I usually pick the rest of my outfit first, then grab a coordinated hat. Black suit, a black hat. Khakis & blazer, a brown hat. This is all subject to weather conditions, of course. For casual occasions, I either grab a hat that matches my outfit, or I ask my daughter to pick my hat. She's only 5, so the hat may or may not match, but she enjoys helping. She's particularly fond of my Cabela's hat, so she picks that one a lot.

I lived in Atlanta in the late 80's and worked at Power99
on the Breakfast Club.

I sure miss those great concerts at Chastain and those
great hikes through the forest to the jumping rock and
rope on the "Hooch!"

I only have two hats, and maybe a half-dozen ties... and it still takes me a while to choose. If anything, the hat is the easy part of the deal -- brown full-brim fedora when I'm wearing brown or green, and new black stingy brim for everything else.

Instead of the "spinner thingamajig" you could always just use darts and a dartboard. Suggestion - keep it way away from the hats in case of errant shots. lol
