Bought a bar of Dove

If you don't want to buy a case of Lux, Vermont Country Store has 4 bars for $11.90 + s/h. Still not super cheap, but at least you won't have a case to try using up if you don't like it :D I'm tempted to order some myself. They also have an interesting one, SweetHeart Soap, "The Soap That Agrees with Your Skin" But one thing at a time...

I bought a bar of Dove - the original forumla - and used it last night and this morning. I had two small breakouts that were taking forever to heal up, but already this morning they are better and almost gone. It does seem a bit drying, but I just mosturize well after using it. I'll see how it goes.

Now I just need a toner or hydrosol. (More shopping! How divine!)

Changing to plain soap instead of "cleanser" was the best thing I ever did for my skin. I use kiss my face olive oil soap or cetaphil bar soap. I generally use rose water as a toner and ponds cold cream (of course).

I don't use commercial soaps, in my opinion they are far too drying for the face (and body), with too many synthetic ingredients , preservatives, color, fragance, etc...
I have found that natural/organic soaps made of all natural ingredients are milder and better for the skin. At the moment I am using Dr Bronners and I am very happy with the results! :)

Agreed! Not everyone reacts to the ingredients in commercial soaps, but my skin does. It's very sensitive.

I've used Dr. Bronners liquid soap at home, but not on my body! I can imagine their bar soap is nice, though, since it has a good, vegetable glycerin base. The closest I come to washing my face with soap is by using Lush's Sweet Japanese Girl bar, though I guess that's basically just OCM. Maybe I'll try using a basic soap once I run out of my other cleansers. No more shopping before I move!

lady day, I'm intrigued by the Palmers soap, as I love the cocoa butter.

As do I! :)

I just did an order from the Palmers site, as that is the only place I seem to find it. Each bar was under $3. Cant beat that :)

I just bought the Burts Bees Peppermint bar. It smells yummy. I am a bathaholic.
My honey use to use Karmex for chapped lips but now he uses the Burts Bees and likes it better.

Ok ladies I have some questions! I want to use a soap to wash my face instead of really expensive liquid ones. I know there is a cheaper alternative out there. My skin is acne prone(but not aweful) and combination leaning more toward oily. Does any have this type and skin? And what kind of beauty soap do you use?

The best one to use that has no poisonous chemicals in it is Kiss My Face olive unscented bar. I do the OCM at night and use the bar for morning. My skin has never looked so good! If you really want to see what is in your beauty products go to safecosmetics.org. You can do a search for the product you use and they rate how bad it is for your skin. A lot of the chemicals they use in mainstream products actually cause you to keep getting chemicals.

I was just reading that Aveeno Positively Radiant facial soap is supposed to be great, there is also one called Aveeno Clear Complexion for oily skin too,
anyone tried it ?

I just found Pear's soap for the first time.
Love it. It gives you a "squeaky clean" feeling, and it smells awesome. It is a little drying, but once I've put toner on, it feels fine.

Try Burt's Bees garden tomato soap. I had a sample of it and while it didn't strip my dry skin, I really think it is more suited to someone with oily or combination skin. It also smells divine - like a fresh garden! The bar is around $8, but it lasts forever compared to liquid facial cleansers.
