Wareing leather jacket

I picked this jacket up from a flea market yesterday. Its so cool! Upon researchinh "Wareing" ive found very little. Mostly a military contract for one style jacket they made in 1939. This seems more recent than that. Its in almost perfect condition.

I think so. But that is the only i fo ive seen. I couldnt find any label or jacket like this on the internet. Curious to know more about this style.

Nice find!There is a Wareing M/C jacket on page 238 of Rin Tanaka's book.This has a vertical Lightning main zipper and is in black steer hide with a red wool tartan lining.It has zipped hand warmer pockets.The label has the same name with a needle piercing it with a racing motorcycle underneath.

Your jacket looks virtually unworn.The side adjuster zips make it something special

There are three of the same labels two on the removeable vest and one on the jacket itself. In person you can tell its old despite the condition being almost perfect. Im guessing 60's but thats just a guess.

One other thing is that the leather is thinner than i expected. I like it because in im southern california. But i wasnt used to seeing the leather so thin and soft as it is.

Your jacket seems similar to one I had by Good Companion. The son of the owner varified these were from the 70s (maybe 60s). It had the diamond leather pull tabs on the sleeves too.

HI I am in California too and just acquired the identical jacket with a fake fleece type liner instead of the cool quilted one. you have Mine is in excellent condition as well. If you ever found more information Id appreciate it. It is a 40 and Im too big for it so I will want to sell or trade it for something that fits. Im trying to determine a fair price and ideas of the fair value?

Nice find. I'd guess you can research Thermex polyester lining to find out how early it was made. One way to date "not earlier than". Not to be confused with Thermex glass water heater insulation.

Hello, first post. I may be of help here, my mother was an out worker for Wareings in the 1960's, they used to send jackets out to be sewn from their Northampton factory to skilled women, mainly young mums in the local villages, in her case Hanslope, to earn extra money. They supplied a heavy duty Singer machine to her and she made many jackets over a period of years, she most liked making the fringed ones. I, as a seven year old used to stick and literally hammer the seams down for a bit of pocket money, with the most volatile mind altering glue applied with a paint brush! She also made some one piece suits for the T.T riders. The label with the needle and thread in it brings back so many memories!
