Wallet, Money Clip...?

How do you guys carry your money and such?

I myself was a wallet guy, always sporting the one my Grandpa gave me before he passed. A western style bifold leather wallet with a horse stamped on one side and a cowboy boot on the other (a little tacky, but it means a lot to me). But then I came across a money clip I liked from the Classic Hardware company and retired the ol' wallet.

After working a register in retail I saw all sorts of things. Rubber bands, paper clips, alligator clips and the works. I even noticed a lot of combinations of both clip and wallet. Thanks fella's.

Money clip.

I used to be a wallet guy. But then my butt started hurting because I sit at work all day long! How horrible is that? ...proud carrier of a money clip! Its nice. my pants weigh half as much now.

I've always used a wallet, and don't see the appeal of a money clip. Then again, I carry quite a few cards whenever I go out, so a money clip wouldn't work so well.

I have struggled with this as well.

I have an old silver money clip my father passed on to me 20+ years ago, but I still have various licenses and credit cards, so i use a soft bi-fold wallet, periodically cleaning it out as much as I can.

I carry the wallet in my suit jacket and my cash in my pocket.

Sort of related, so I'll throw it out here, what do you guys use for change? I hate the sound of metal in my pocket. What did they use in the golden era when cash was mostly coin?

I am flirting with the idea of going to a local bank and getting $100 in $2 bills, and $50 in $1 coins. Very silly, but it feels more 40s to me to have those denominations.

Money Clip

With the Coat of Arms of my College Fraternity. Especially when going out, I usually only carry one Credit card and my DL.

Griffer, now is the time to ask your local bank for $1 coins and $2 bills, many of them stock up on such at this time of year as people often give them as gifts.

I have an old silver, deco money clip. I'd use it more if the clip was tighter; only works for big wads of cash. I'll get that fixed at some point. My favorite holder so far is a card holder cum 3x5 card pad that I got from Levenger. For me, it's absolutely perfect. I have customized 3x5 cards with my name and website. As I'm a writer, I find I use it all the time, or have others write things down for me, or give one to somebody with a date and place for a party, or whatever. It does have a somewhat retro, "journalist" type thing going on. I dig it a great deal.

I always use a money clip that was gifted to me by my wife. She liked the horseshoe on it...told me it was lucky. I do keep my driver's license and credit card tucked inside my bills. Perhaps this is strange. I really do not want to carry a bulky wallet in my pocket, but like having everything in one place. The only limitations of the money clip are having too many or too few bills to fit the clip properly...although the latter is seldom a problem.

I carry a lot of cards, ID and other assorted items, so I needs a wallet with lots of slip pockets. I also HATE loose change in my pockets...about 3 years ago I discovered a european style regular billfold with a built in snap-flap change purse, and I've bought two more since. It seems they're unusual here in the U.S.

I'd be interested in a taxi wallet, but they don't have the space I need for all of my cards.

Money clip for me

I've been using a money clip for about 5 years now. It was a conscious decision of mine to streamline the contents of my pockets. With a wallet, I have a tendency to carry every card ever issued to me, as well as receipts and other temporarily useful information. Since I never clean it out, it would get quite fat!

In line with this, I've pared down my keyring to just a solitary stainless steel ring with 5 keys on it and a USB memory stick. I used to have every sort of promotional keyfob and store card on my ring, but not anymore.

Lately, I've been interested in one of those larger European bifold wallets, to keep my lesser-used cards in it (social security, library card, etc.). At 3X6 inches, The larger size is perfect for my daybag.

I pretty much have to use a wallet.

I just realized (again) that I carry too many things. In addition to cash, I carry:

Driver's license
Rescue Squad ID
Check card
ATM card
Virginia EMT-Intermediate card
CPR card
PALS card (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
ACLS card (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
Automotive sales license
ATM and check card receipts

This is the minimum I have to keep on my person on a daily basis, except for rare (formal) occasions.

i carry a wallet in my back pocket. it is a single fold wallet, and i've converted one card pocket into a zippered change pocket. it took some time to find a nice, small zipper which wouldn't add bulk, and in the end i took one from an old glove. i think it must have been a very old glove, because the zipper is metallic.

i seem to be wandering a bit. i mean to say, i use a wallet, and not a money clip.

I carry both a money clip in my front pocket for cash and a wallet, or "pocketbook" as it was called, yes, even for men. This has been around for some time, I carried one similar when I did Civil War reenacting years ago. Most men carry what is called a "billfold" since you "fold" the bills when it is closed. With the wallet you can spread you cards out so it is not as thick when it's in your back pocket, or when your wearing a nice jacket it fits in the front breast pocket without much bulk.
