Well, it arrived today. Precisely as photographed. Ha. It's kind of great, but way too big for me: very much a 7 1/2, and I'm 7 1/4. I'm going to put it up in the Trading Post (although James gets first dibs).

Actually, it's not quite 7 1/2 -- just measured, and it's 23".

Can straw hats be soaked in water and Woolite, the way a felt hat can? It does need cleaning.

The only Champs i have are felts. Finding a Champ straw in my size is pretty hard. The only real milan I have is a wierdly named Equadorian Panama Hat Company Supernatural Milan. I don't come in contact with many Milans. [huh]

Regards,

J

I knew that name rang a bell, I have a "Equadorian Panama Hat Company Supernatural" hatbox I picked up a few months back. It seemed like a nice box, but at that time I had never seen the hat that goes with it.

Well, the Wacky hat is now officially the Classy hat.

I took a chance and soaked it, using Woolite on discolored bits -- including the ribbon -- and it came out stunningly well. I'll have pictures soon. I did sort of what Marc did in the hat above: didn't put a pinch in it, really, so much as a hint of a ship's prow. This seemed warranted by the shape of the porkpie bash on top: not quite an ellipse -- slightly pointed in front.

Is this a standard thing to do with Milan straws? (Or porkpies in general?) It even looked good with a shallow pinch...
