little navy crocheted change purse!! I had my corde' purse on the kitchen floor as I was sitting there looking through my purse for the dry cleaner ticket for some vintage clothes I took in. I forgot about the purse being there and the small change purse was left on the floor. Cappy tore off the top of it and chewed it up where the little snap was- boo hoo....

At least he didn't chew on the strap or anywhere on the larger corde'purse. Anybody out there in FL land know how to crochet this kind of thing?

mmm, pets, gotta love them.

Okay, you likely cannot repair the damage by re-crocheting it, because you don't have enough yarn, but you might be able to change it up and still make it useful.

I'd repair the chewed up section by carefully trimming and sewing down the damaged area. You might have to reinforce it, maybe a matching bit of grosgrain ribbon on the inside edge is my first thought. Basically you would recreate the flap to having a flat edge instead of the pointed envelope style. Does this make any sense?

Then I would remove the snap and put two snaps (one in each corner of your new flat edged flap. It looks like you'd still have enough to make a useful closing change purse. I had to do some small repairs on a corde bag and just stitched down the loose bits, but it wasn't as dramatic as your damage!

I second Inky's suggestion. I would carefully trim the purse flap, sew down the loose edges and then bind them with some sort of trim to cover up the damage.

Hmmm....another Serial Nibbler.

Before you become enmeshed in the Crocheted Chewing Caper, I'd say this is a case for The Canine Constabulary!

Ahh that is so sad:( Im sure you could figure out a way to fix it.
Reminds me when my chihuahua chewed my favorite red lipstick, the tube was all bitten down, and the lipstick smashed inside...:(

Oh man, my brother picked up a stray dog and he ate my favorite pair of roach stompers I found at a garage sale when I was ten.

They were fabulous and fit me too!
Just beautiful brown leather with a fold over above the peep toe and that crazy mutt ate the straps and buttons off em!
I was heartbroken to say the least and didn't realize that a cobbler could have fixed them after the fact.
Ahhh to not think of such things when you're a kid....
